Middlebrooks obstructed the runner resulting in the runner falling on top of him. Where else is he supposed to put his hands?
I can't see anything obstructed. As a matter of fact, I can see the base path wide open. Of course, if you want to run into the fallen third baseman, then the base path is quite irrelevant. Kind of like sliding to second on a double play -- you don't really slide to second, you slide to wherever the second baseman is (really hard at that, too).
