Sacramento needs a SF and a veteran to teach that young team about effort.  Gerald would be perfect and would upgrade their team.  This trade also frees up minutes to develop Ben McLemore on the fly.

It also saves us about 14 million over three years and gets us a look/see at a possible long-term answer at SG for two years.

Thoughts??

Hats off to hpantazo for mentioning picking up Thornton.  Just playing off his idea.

Sounds good to me. Mclemore is the guy there at SG, and with Vazquez and Wallace to keep Cousins in check, the Kings would be well on their way to legitimacy.

I like it. Reason why I like Thorton is because he can score in bunches and in my mind, you can never have enough guys like that.

I also wouldn't mind taking back Salmons either.

I actually think he's a decent player, on par with Gerald and only has one year left on his contract (I believe.)

Nice idea about Salmon gpap.  Courtney Lee and Wallace for Salmons and Thornton works.

We would pay .46 million more this year, but we could save 6.86 million next year IF we decline the team option on Salmons at 7 million.  We would then save a whopping 15.79 million in year three.  Certainly, we might re-sign Thornton with some of that:-)))

Thoughts?

I would love a M.Thornton for G.Wallace swap but I don't see Sacramento taking on an extra year's salary (plus additional payroll this season and next) in order to get an older + inferior player in Gerald Wallace.

I think Sacramento should be looking for a younger player. Someone like Jeff Green.

If Avery Bradley keeps shooting outside jumpers the way he is tonight vs. Minny, I might include him in a bigger deal.  Holy crap, I am SICK of seeing him take 20 footers and brick them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gerald is also paid MORE and has one more year.  Gerald also is NOT a SG, but a SF and we have Jeff Green at SF.

I don't get that logic; you also have Brooks, Crawford, Bradley, Bogans, and Lee at SG.

The logic is that Brooks is terrible (maybe the MOST SELFISH player in the NBA), Crawford will be a lifetime journeyman, Bogans already is one, and Lee is TERRIBLE.  How is that for logic??  OOPs, I left off Bradley.  He is a great defender that has a TERRIBLE outside shot.  We have a HUGE HOLE at the SG position.
