What do you think our record at the end of the season would be with Rondo the whole season and with Rondo out for a small bit of the season?

21 Wins if Rondo comes back in December and gets traded in February.

34 if he plays from December to the end of the season.

Rondo misses first 25-30 games, Celtics win about 5-6 games over that span (yes, truly horrid).

Over the remaining 50 games, the Celtics have a 30-40% win rate.

That works out to 20-25 wins.

26 Wins assuming Rondo's out 'til the holidays.

Celtics should win at least 25 games...and a maximum of 40 games. I see ourselves battling for 8th seed spot and going back and forth between 8th and 10th spot.

I don't see ourselves really "tanking" for Wiggins.

I'm not sure people realize how bad this team actually will be. Could seriously be a 15 win team unless Rondo comes back and becomes a full superstar

This season's record will be determined at the trade deadlineby the following:

Rondo

Health

Our record

Availability of players we can use

Desirability of our assets

The better our record and Rondo's performance, the better our players will be valued by other teams. That will put us in a better position to trade.

The worse our record and performance, The less our players will be valued or desired. That will cause a decline in winning on our part.

My guess is somewhere in the middle where we are on track to win 30 games and have two players having a good year that we consider expendable.

We dont want to win so many games it puts our pick in the upper teens or around 20. That will lessen the value of the pick. We need to keep the wins down and the pick near ten or lower, unless we have a shot at a 4th seed or higher. Aint happening.

Less than 25 IMO is mandatory. Good draft pick and we keep our best assets.

This team is going to suck for most of the season, and that has nothing to do with not having talented players, because the Celtics have some talented guys. But a rookie coach, new system, no starting caliber PG and no decent center will make them look really bad.

Regardless of the losses, Bass, Lee, Wallace, Humphries and Crawesome will get enough minutes to look like decent players, and hopefully we get something good in return (picks, players, cap relief).

After the trades, they'll be through another adaptation process, and it will lead to more losses... until March/April, when they'll finally click and then play something like .500 ball, denying the tank rumors and winning when they'll be supposed to play for ping pong balls. In a normal season, this roster could reach 40 wins, but not this year. 26-56 to 32-50 range.
