As we watch this new group trying to establish it's identity, we have a couple of roles that need to be filled. Spark off the bench, defensive stopper, enforcer and crunch time scorer or go-to guy.

Who will be the go-to guy until Rondo comes back?

I think it will be Jared Sullinger. He can take it down low and draw a foul or hit the jumper. Second choice is Gerald Wallace but not if he is shooting long range. If we need a 3pt shot then I guess Jordan Crawford.

I have not seen him play at all, but from what I have read it doesn't seem he will be a big time scorer, more of an all around player.

You must not spend a ton of time here. I keep reading that he's pretty much guaranteed to be a LeBron-level player.

From what I've seen in the preseason, I would have to say Sullinger by far, with Wallace 2nd, and Green third. Sullinger is the most confident, talented scorer we have right now without Rondo, and he can score inside and hit from long distance.

I think Brandon Bass is the obvious choice to run a play for.  I see him having the most composure in a final shot situation.

If we are unable to run a play for an open shot, the choice becomes much harder.  You want to say you'd give it to Green for a drive to the rim, but under pressure I'm not sure that's a much better option than a ridiculous Jordan Crawford step-back.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

When was Rondo ever our crunch time bucket maker ??

Outside of a few unexpected games/playoff games, if Rondo is the guy you want to have as your game closer than your in trouble.

It should be jeff green, but he has gone back to hibernation mode again and no ones sure when he will wake up.

Olynyk has potential. Loved what Pressey did at the end vs the knick, though it was only against rookies. That was a difficult , clutch basket.

I guess its a wait a see situation. Worse case we got a ton of picks coming up to get a guy who can close out games.

This implies that we will actually have an NBA-caliber "go to guy".  Based on what I have seen so far in preseason, I am not so sure.

I get it, in a close game at the end, we will have to call a play for someone.  They will probably just have to go with the hot hand in that situation.

We don't have one.  That's why this team finishes under .500.

If we are setting up a legitimate play, then Jeff Green makes the most sense - especially since he has the ability to create if things fall short.

If we are going Pierce iso-style, then the far and away choice is Crawford. He is simply the best player on the team at creating off the dribble - either for himself or to an open man.

I saw the Bass idea and that could work if you could legitimately get him a 15-17 foot jump shot, otherwise it totally falls apart.

Is pretty much the same guarantee that we land him.

Yeah, the guy who's probably out "best" player now (Gerald Wallace) said pretty clearly that we're a team without a go-to guy.  I mean, really...  Crash?  Bass?  AB?  Green?  Not a one of them you can put in an iso and expect them to create a game-winner.  Tough season ahead...
