I actually like the trade if Boston doesn't give up any first rounders or another high value prospect (i.e. no sully or oly).  I really like Patterson and Jimmer is an excellent shooter it also removes the Wallace problem (both contract and lack of playing time behind Green).  Bradley has basically peaked in my estimation and doesn't really have the size needed to be a Tony Allen type (which is really what his role should be).  It would be a great trade for a rebuilding Boston as long as no firsts or other high value prospects are included.

Bradley isn't leaving town for that crap. Jimmer somewhat helps our 3point shooting problem but not enough to pursue.

The Celtics could use some PG depth.  I'd give up Jordan Crawford.  (Points per 36 minutes last season: Fredette 18.4, Crawford 17.1...and Fredette can actually make threes).

I'd consider throwing in Fab Melo, but I'd ask for Sacramento to decrease or eliminate the protection on one of those top-55 protected second-round picks they owe Boston.

Career numbers

Bradley 6.9p/1.7r/1.4a/0.8s/0.4b/1.4t/2.6f/20.4m shooting .438/.335/.755 with one 2nd team all defense

Patterson 8.3p/4.4r/0.9a/0.4s/0.4b/0.8t/1.8f/22.1m shooting .495/.372/.728

Bradley is an undersized shooting guard.  Patterson has great height as a 3/4.  Both are essentially the same age with the same years in the league, but Patterson hasn't been hurt and has played 42 extra games.

I get that Bradley is a pretty darn good defender, but Patterson isn't a slouch defensively and he isn't a waste offensively, on the boards, or virtually everywhere else like Bradley is.  Boston absolutely should cash Bradley in because he isn't going to be much better than he is right now and his value certainly won't be higher.

Expand this trade and make it really interesting:

GWall, Bass, Avery, Crawford, Melo and our 2015 first rounder (lottery protected or top 10 protected) FOR

Demarcus Cousins, John Salmons, Chuck Hayes, Jimmer, and Patterson??

We save 3.34 million in the process.

I don't think Sac-town deals Cousins BUT how about a deal like this?

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6331606

Celts get: Marcus Thorton, Jimmer Fredette, Patrick Patterson and John Salmons
Sacramento gets: Avery Bradley, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries and Fab Melo.

Sacramento gets tough D and rebound production in Bradley and Humph with Wallace and Melo as throw-ins.

Celts get a back up PG in Fredette, a pretty impressive scorer in Thorton, and two throw-ins in Salmons and Patterson.

I like this a lot.  We would likely HAVE to throw in a first rounder or two.

If that's the case, then I would. I really like Thorton.  Career average 14 points per game player.

Nevermind.  I do NOT want to give up Bradley and then get one of the worst defensive SG's in the league!!

The appeal to this trade idea is actually Patrick Patterson, not Jimmer.

I don't see Danny signing off on this type of deal.  Celtics get raped in this deal unless first rounders are thrown around somewhere.

Sactown will not deal Cousins; But I like the idea of getting Jimmer in this trade scenario;

IMHO Bradley is a SG trapped in a PG's body; He does not have the handles to become a back-up PG and is too small to guard the traditional sizes of SGs;
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

If we are going for Demarcus (which I absolutely think we should do), then I think we would be keeping Wallace as our starting sf and shipping out Green, Avery, and a first or two...which I would be totally in favor of...and I like Green a lot.

As for the original trade, not all that crazy about sending out Bradley in a deal that doesn't really work for us.

Not a bad idea.  We would then have a really nice future frontcourt rotation of Cousins, Sully, and KO.  You could then trade Humphries and/or Bass for a stop gap wing help, then hopefully draft a stud wing player next year.
