He should definitely be cut.  He's sure to clear waivers, and if they want they can always bring him back on a 1-year deal that pays him the same amount, but costs the team $200k less, since the league reimburses for 1-year vet min contracts.

Shav will be 30 years old by the start of the season. What's the big deal with this guy? I don't get it. He's a scrub.

Career numbers:

Games 111
Min   8:48
Rbs   2.7
Pts   2.7

Did I mention that he'll be 30 YEARS OLD this fall?

Cut Shav and be done with it.

Shav = rudy
Also beat jason terry as the number one cheerleader from the bench.

We have to keep him

I'd be surprised if he cleared waivers.

Celtics need to keep Shav. He is a competitor. He works hard and deserves a roster spot.   They need guys like him.

I'm actually surprised that people would be surprised if he cleared waivers.

I'm still trying to figure out what skills Fab has. At least Shav can board better than most.

He's seven feet tall.  Weren't some posters whining about lack of height last season?

Why they should keep Shav part of the article.

He led the team in rebounds per minutes.  Hard work beats talent when talent fails.to work hard. Kevin Durant said.that I think.

I mean I love Shav, and I'm an advocate. But can we stop overrating him.. Shav at best wasn't even a good back up big until we acquired him. He's a good hustle guy who'll put in work, and hustle hard to grab any offensive/defensive rebounds. But the matter of the fact is we already have plenty of those guys.

I like him, simply because he's the underdog, and I love his name ;).

Shav at best is a 6 pt and 6-7 rebound per 10-12 minute kind of guy. Isn't tall, needs to bulk up, gets bullied around by bigger men easily, and at times is too wrapped up with fouls. Of course fouls can change over time.

But we need to stop overrating Shav... At best he's a back up 3rd PF/C. Which we already have abundance of.

Keep him if we can trim the roster, and waive him if we can't.

We will keep him for two reasons.
1) Waiving him will not get us under the luxury tax.
2) He is an excellent trade chip.  He has an elite NBA skill at a very low cost.  I'm sure a contender would love to have him in a Reggie Evans role off the bench.

Bass, Wallace, Lee or Crawford will be moved to get under the luxury tax.
