Yahoo has a series where a writer comes up with a list of the ten greatest in a city's sports history. Here's the list for Boston: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ten-greatest-athletes-boston-sports-history-144400329.html

Alphabetical Order:
Bird
Bourque
Brady
Cousy
Havlicek
Martinez
Orr
Russell
Williams
Yastrzemski

It is a good list, but there are some that are debatable (eg: Bourque over Garnett?)

Here are the ones that I think are no-brainers: Bird, Brady, Cousy, Havlicek, Orr, Russell, Williams.

Thoughts?

Pierce deserves to be on this list.

Congrats on 10k!

I think Bourque over KG is a no brainer.

Now, Pedro over Clemens, I'm not sure about.  Clemens spent 13 years here, whereas Pedro was here for seven.

This is part of the annoyingly fun thing about the ranking: its complete subjectivity. How to "weight" the years a player spent in Boston, if at all?

Obviously, you've got to weight it a bit (o/w Shaq, one of the greatest NBA players ever, would have to go on the list).
