I think that Bradley is a good defender but I am not sure he is good enough to be considered one the 4 best guards in the game. What statistics back up this honor?

Its All-Defense not All-NBA....and yes, he is one of the four best defensive guards in the game. Maybe the best.

Lets you see Bradley's performance in various defensive situations, and also lets you compare his performance to other defensive-minded guards.  He scores very well - better than guys like Eric Bledsoe, Lance Stephenson and Tony Allen, all of whom are regarded as good defenders.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Bradley has a very slim chance of winning a DPOY in the future. That being said, very few guards have had even a very, very, very slim chance to win it.

Guys like Michael Cooper, Michael Jordan, Gary Payton - those who can not only lock-down defenders completely, but also lift up the entire defense as a whole, are the ones who can win DPOYs.

The Celtics' defense surely saw a positive impact with Bradley on the floor.

Circumstantially, (and very circumstantially) he might be able to pull it off.

love watching Bradley play guys like kobe dwayne, rose, maybe pierce too, any pg trying to get the ball up the court before 16 seconds. love watching him beat players to their spots getting called for the foul even though it should be an offensive but will these calls soon based on reputation and not being a rookie.

got to give a shout out to greg steimsma who has the timing of bill russell. lol tommy heinson good stuff

Surprised and not surprised by this.

Excellent defenders listed, but considering some of what synergysports reports (e.g., PPP on PnRs), it makes sense to see these guys at the top. DJ, Hibbert, M. Gasol, and KG are hedging and/or behind them to contribute to stops.

Surprised AB tops them, though. I think he's a great defender - and I love him for it - but Felton made it clear he doesn't have the strength yet to lock down bigger (in this case, fatter) PGs. Felton is great in the PnR, but he was also abusing him in iso. Maybe it was injury/shoulder-related, maybe not. The nice part is he is only 22 and can definitely bulk up enough to clamp down on stronger/larger PGs.

I've always been a big fan. I think his work-ethic and attitude will take him to the next level. Not sure how specific his role will be, but the kid is going to be a stud.

i'm a fan of AB - mainly coz i love watching good defense. While I do think he'll be a role player his whole career, i think it's very possible that he'll get some All-Defense 1st teams pretty soon given how hard he works.  I don't think DPOY is in the conversation though. IMO, to be DPOY, a player needs to consistently dominate games with his D or be the defensive identity of his team.

When building a championship team, Bradley is the type of role player you need because of the defense and hustle he brings. Think of him as a Bruce Bowen type - he'll never wow you with stats, but he'll do his job and lock down other players. Though his offense has been getting better as his career progresses, so he could be a formidable scoring option down the line.

Avery is not the same after his shoulder surgeries.
some want to make him a jump shooter..but he got on the map because of his D not O..he will get his buckets because of his speed..but he is not a creator..he needs to focus on his D then everything will fall into place

He has ZERO chance of guarding PP, PP will back him down and easily over power him, AB would need 3 shoulder surgeries after a game with PP lol.

The biggest concern with Avery is his durability.

I still have confidence that he can reach his ceiling on the offensive end as a smaller Courtney Lee type player.  He's already amazing on the defensive end, though he needs to learn how to deal with larger players and also not get taken out of the game by refs who are quicker to blow their whistles.

Avery's game is all about maximum effort and hustle, though, which thus far has resulted in a number of significant injuries.  Either the injuries stop being a problem or Avery will need to be relegated to a smaller, 15-20 mpg role where he gives a jolt of life to the defense and hounds the other team's ball-handler while our main guys are resting.
