Are we allowed to use that this off-season? What players do you think we could get with that?

We can use it now till next July. What we can actually do with that, not sure. Trade for a player for around 12 mill I think? might be other things you can do with it, and I'd let some one that actually has spent time in learning how to use it explain.

Technically we can't use it at the moment as we are hard-capped at 75.7 (thanks to the Bogans sign-and-trade) and our current salaries add up to around 73 mill.  We would need to get down around 61 mill to use the full-exception and stay away from being taxpayers (just barely).  Or, we could split the exception up into two exceptions and just use one of them for now.  Either way though, we need to lower our current payroll to either 66 or 61 mill.

Most likely if we use it, it will be next offseason.  We have until July 12, 2014 I believe 3 days after free agency starts.
