Hearing the Clippers will be in play for Dwight Howard next week. It will depend on salary and sign and trade.

Clippers have the OK from Donald Sterling to do whatever it takes.

Dwight Howard wants Chris Paul as a teammate. Feels Paul will involve him in the offense.

Doc Rivers, Chris Paul both want Howard but not at expense of Blake Griffin.

I don't understand how it will be possible without Griffin. I mean, theoretically they could throw together Jordan, Bledsoe, Butler's expiring, and draft picks, but is that enough?

I certainly don't think they can sign him outright unless they do some clever maneuvering and somehow free up that cap space by trading away Jordan and Butler elsewhere.

I think that would be pretty great for both teams. For next season at least.

Lakers will be a better team next season with Blake Griffin alongside Pau Gasol than they would be with Dwight Howard. They'll get more out of Nash and D'Antoni's system with Blake there instead of Dwight. Be a better team.

Although Dwight is the preferable piece in future years beyond that.

Edit: Oh misread that last tweet. No Griffin = no chance!

I bet they trade Blake if it gets done.

Completely true.

I bet they trade Blake if it gets done.
If I'm the Lakers I'm asking for Blake and Bledsoe.

You know the Clippers will insist RIGHT NOW that Blake is off limits knowing for sure they'd move him in a heartbeat for Dwight and that's probably what ends up happening

Griffin and Bledsoe for Howard sounds like a fair deal to me. Blake is kinda overrated but still a good player.

Considering Howard's back issues, I think they're better off keeping Griffin and trying to get a better defensive center to put next to him and then upgrading their wing players.

The Lakers, reportedly, won't facilitate a trade for Howard.

The luxury tax implications have to be the principle reason why they wouldn't accept a trade; Blake Griffin might be one of the only other players worth taking the tax hit.

They might trade him for draft picks though.

Perhaps, a 4 team trade involving Jordan and Bledsoe going to separate teams for 1st round draft picks and one of the Clippers 1st rounders (possibly 2) to the Lakers. 3 or 4 1st round draft picks might sway the Lakers to a trade.

I might rather have Blake and Bledsoe than Howard given Howard's injury issues and Bledsoe's perceived trade value around the league.
