While likely just filler in the Nets megatrade, Kris Joseph may be an interesting throw-in, as, like Shav Randolph, Terrence Williams, and DJ White, Joseph is on a fully non-guaranteed contract.

About a month ago, LooseCannon posted a trade idea thread involving the so-called China 3 (see http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=65072.0). Ainge can now add another of these contracts to the mix.

One idea: combining some or all of those non-guaranteed contracts to bring back a player from a team looking to drop even further under the cap in anticipation of spending big on a free agent this summer.

For example: might Ainge be able to bring Houston into the Nets megatrade, and get Thomas Robinson by rerouting Joseph with Randolph and White? The numbers work.

Yes, absolutely freaking yes. Again, I do not understand why Thomas Robinson has not been moved yet. The dude has a high ceiling and is just one year removed from being a top 5 lottery pick. I don't care if we're bringing it back, retooling, rebuilding, or whatever. Regardless of where Ainge is taking this team, you can't pass on pennies-on-the-dollar once-in-a-lifetime opportunities like this.

That would be fantastic! Isn't Robinson exactly the kind of player we should be bringing in right now? Might we have to include a future first or would a future 2nd do it?

Aren't there restrictions on when you can package a recently traded player with other players?

Bench: Sessions, Shumpert, G. Green, T. Booker, Frye

Yes. But, the trade doesn't become official until July 10. Plenty of time to find a third team.

It's possible, given how desperate that third team is to shed payroll, that the Celtics might not have to give up anything more in return.

This exactly. I don't care of Thomas Robinson busts in Boston. He'd still have trade value even after that. This is an all-win/no-lose situation. That doesn't happen in the NBA much. Ainge absolutely NEEDS to take this.

The one big plus I see about this deal being pushed back until July 10th is it gives Danny almost 2 weeks to try and work this deal a little more similar to your suggesting.

Too many power forwards already.

No room for Thomas Robinson until others leave first.

You have to imagine Bass is probably on the move soon.

Shavlik and DJ (kind of centers) are in the deal already.

We then have Jared, Kelly, and Gerald. None of those three are exclusively pfs and it's possible Jared could be in a deal (although I hope not)...no matter what, this deal can only be a positive for the Cs.

Love this idea. I want Thomas Robinson big time.

What's his likely projection? I'm thinking J.J. Hickson with more upside. Bring it on!!!!

Yes, absolutely freaking yes. Again, I do not understand why Thomas Robinson has not been moved yet.

I'd imagine Houston would like to hold on to him if they can't bring in Dwight Howard or Josh Smith.  Morey is probably looking for a team that will give him a contingency, such as agreeing to a deal that will be consummate if and only if Houston needs the extra cap space.

Good point, and that's definitely the smart thing to do. Personally though, Houston would have to be victimized by something along the likes of a nuclear strike or a natural disaster for them to not land at least Smith. Houston has an absolutely attractive core in Harden, Parsons, and Asik. Lin's not great, but he's good, and brings a lot of buzz to the team. Texas itself isn't the worst when it comes to extracurricular fun, and the state is one of the best when it comes to income taxes. I definitely see Howard having Houston as option #1.

Yeah, given the failed gamble on amnestying Luis Scola, I'm sure Morey will be a bit more prudent this time around.

Still, by July 10, he should have a pretty good idea whether Dwight would be willing to sign up with the Rox.
