Long time reader. I am a die hard Celtics fan that lives in Chicago. I am 31 and my first Celtic Memory is sitting on my dads lap watching the 84 Finals watching Magic and Larry duel it on. Brings me to this present day with Doc.Let him go if he was to come back we are paying him 7 Million dollars a year to coach what would be and average team. We would win what maybe 45 games. First round exit most likely. I love KG Pierce but father time gets us all. Let them go out on a winning note. They gave us a great run. Why do people want to keep thinking this team can compete for a title with its current state. Danny would be doing everyone a favor by trading them and getting some pieces back. We held onto one big three era to long. Why keep Pierce and Kg when you can get decent pieces back and restart right now. Just my 3 cents and I look forward to a much brighter future without Doc. Thank you KG Pierce for all wars that you have been in. You brought back Celtic Pride and now it should continue with a new Era.

Welcome to the forums!

If we let him go, do we just not have to pay him anymore?

Because there hasn't even been a "decent" offer.

Just moves that put the Celtics into the "treading water" area.

So what in your eyes is a decent offer?

Actual building blocks with cap flexibility.

Most offers include the who's who of bad contracts.

If it's a good deal, then the other team's not gonna offer it. There are no good deals in the NBA.

I think the idea is that Danny would be acquiring assets to eventually trade for something bigger. We have that 'something' bigger in KG/Pierce, but they are at the end of the line.

It comes down to wanting cap space [which wouldn't be that much since we are well over the cap now] or a bunch of young players / picks that are either part of the future or can be swapped out for something else.

Danny has never been afraid to make moves. He was horrible when he started [Raef, Wally, etc], but he has won his last few trades and I have no doubt he will continue to do what's best for the organization.

So you believe in trading for the purpose of just trading.

All I'm saying is that every trade we make will either have something negative coming back or have a risk. And I'm willing to take that.

We're not just gonna get good stuff for bad stuff.

Then don't make the trade.

Instead, let them come off the book in a season.  Trade away the other bad cap players.  Build up young, cheap assets.  Use cap flexibility to add players or good draft picks.

What you describe is the NY Knicks when Ewing was the aging star.  How many years did that plan waste?

I don't see how Jordan is a bad contract ? He will be an expiring contract next season. We get chips with 2 1st rd picks and Bledsoe , who we can resign if we trade Rondo, or include with picks and Sully to land something good
