Another day, another trade idea to pass the time.

Not saying I would do this but it could be considered. If essentially combines all of our role player contracts and gives us one massive expiring in 2 years. Maybe Amare actually gets healthy and can contribute. Health aside, NY would love to get rid of him and maybe we can coax a future 1st out of the deal?

Thoughts?

does more for NY than us.  I don't see Amare playing 25% of the schedule for the next 2 years

IF KG and Pierce retire/are moved, then yes I'd roll the dice.  Amare can be an excellent (borderline unstoppable) 1 on 1 player when healthy.  I think his lack of production recently has been due to being in a Melo-centric offensive system that is not suited to him at all rather than his decline of skill/health.

His contract is only 2 more years longer and we wouldn't do much in those 2 years without Pierce and KG anyways.  It'd be fun to see what Rondo and Amare could do together.

If we could get a future 1st out of it, then I'm even more inclined to do so.

If Pierce and KG come back, then I would not do this under any circumstance, no matter how many picks come back to us.  I think Amare would be an OK fit here (not great but better than NYK), but not worth the risk of losing those 3 role players.  I think those 3 guys are much better than people on cb give them credit for.

Amare's skill set is definitely worth having, but ...

Call me jaded, but I don't want another injury-prone player on this team, unless perhaps it was for the vet min. Even in that case, though, I would be hesitant, because putting money aside for a minute, I wouldn't want to get a player of Amare's talent level, start envisioning how good things could be with him on the team ... and then lose him to yet another injury.

I just dont think I could get excited about having Amare on this team. He makes waaaay too much money and is just a complete injury risk waiting to happen. If he could give us say 16 and 7 as a healthy center playing 68-70 games then it might be worth it. Because if he is at that:

Rondo
Pierce/Bradley
Green
KG/Sully
Amare

Is a pretty stellar squad. However. I dont think he can play at half the level he used to, if he even plays at all. I think Id pass.

Agreed that Amare makes way too much money but the idea is consolidating our role players. We will be paying Bass, Lee, and Terry a combined 18mill for the next 2 years anyways (add an extra year for Lee) so the money is already being spent regardless.

I'm not pushing the idea and would likely pass unless there was some other compensation coming back from NY but it is the closest thing we could likely to to "dump" these contracts.

No. He's injury prone, and we'd be giving New York a competent bench for free if Amare doesn't produce.

Tha Knicks would get tha better end of that trade. Im not sleeping or dismissing Amare's talent but I would rather gamble on Greg Oden than Amare.

I would for the simple fact that we dump 3 useless players and though we get an albatross contract in return, it's one where if Amare was healthy, he could give KG/Pierce another 2 years added onto their careers.

Only issue is I am not quite sure the Knicks trade him to another team in the Atlantic Division (Boston, no less.)

But if the Knicks agreed, then yes, I'd do it.

No, not really. If anything this handicaps the Knicks even more because instead of now investing in one bad contract, they now invest in 3 bad contracts.

Also, not quite sure what Bass, Lee or Terry have shown where this deal favors the Knicks. Granted Bass did defend Melo well in the playoffs, but the Knicks still won.

Roughly $20 million dollars for 30 games' worth of 6th-man minutes last season.
