I can, and will, but let's face it, you are trying to put those players into positions they didn't really play.

I think Moncrief can defend PGs, but I think you'll need to find a better distributor there.

Moncreif was a wing. he played more SFs than PGs. He could probably guard PGs, but he is no PG. He's a lot closer to be a SF than a PG.

The season I'm selecting for hayes he played center according to basketball reference

I think Cooper is the PG out of the two of them. Or I should say lead guard in a two guard backcourt with a lot of shared responsibilities. Steady stable decision maker. Good ball-handler. Did well initiating the Lakers offense when asked to do so. Adequate setup guard.

Let Moncrief stay at off-guard and be more aggressive looking to attack offensively when he touches the ball. Cooper in the low usage position just asked to setup and initiate the offense role but not really create anything.

That said, I would be more inclined to move Cooper to SF or a bench role than start him at PG.

A cool possibility for this page is to use basketball-reference.com's player comparison tool to see the stats for each team's starting 5 for the chosen years.

For example, here's Washington's frontcourt, all set up with the correct years:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=mcadobo01&y1=1975&p2=gilmoar01&y2=1978&p3=wilkeja01&y3=1977#per_game::none

EDIT: Also, kindly refer to our DRTG and combined blocks/game if you want an early leader for best defensive team ;)

Yeah, Hayes less so than Moncreif but a large portion of his years he was a PF to Unseld's C. Its like calling KG a center, as far as I am concerned. KG could play center but his natural position he played most of the time was PF.

Its going to be the same with Cowens who wdleehi will be putting at PF. Cowens was a center.

Cooper as a 6th man is a dangerous weapon.

Nick,

Thanks for all the hard work thus far and many tps.

I believe Hayes was primarily a center early on in Houston but yep, pf next to Unseld for the bulk of his career.
