Sounds almost as confident as pierce himself

you're taking it a little out of context...the kid doesn't care about pierce and nor should he he just wanted to win...don't have a problem

Yup, exactly. When you think about it, this is really no different then when Pierce yelled out "we ain't coming back to LA" to Lakers fans in game 2 of the 2010 finals.

I like Burks. Young dude trying to prove himself and showing some signs of promise. It doesn't upset me that he's not starstruck. He played a pretty good game himself last night.

On another note, I saw that unsuccessful PP iso at the end of regulation coming from 2 miles away. I openly groaned and begged for a pass of any kind before 8 seconds. Watching that same play over and over is torture. He really bounced back and shut me up in OT though. Hell of an OT. That iso just has to go though.

Sounds like the question kind of set him up for it. What was he suppose to say? "Oh wow it truly was amazing just getting torched by the great Paul Pierce."

Some Jazz fans are complimenting Burks for his comments, saying they show confidence and swagger.

I say it makes him look like an idiot who doesn't respect those who have come before him.

This.

Hey Alec -

You mad? ;D

Not a big deal. Paul Pierce isn't a big name to non-sports fans to be honest. I'm sure non-sports fans know Kobe (duh), LeBron (duh), Ray Allen (duh), KG (duh), but Pierce is relatively unknown to many young bloods

How could you watch the game yesterday and not know Burks lolz

Why on earth would you think Ray Allen would be as well known as Pierce?

Before I got into basketball I knew who pierce was. Had no idea who ray allen was or KG for that matter.

What's very ironic about this statement is that Burks says Pierce is a "nobody" to him, while in reality Burks surely does know who Pierce is.  On the flip side, Burks may actually be the nobody to Pierce in the sense where Pierce may have no idea who Alec Burks is.

I don't care that he said it, good for him really.  Shouldn't be looking up to the opposition.

But the thread title is just PERFECT and sums it up.  LOL.

I'm not defending what Burks said, but he did make the game-tying basket to send it into OT.

Only reason I know who he is was because my player on NBA 2k13 got drafted by the Jazz and Burks refused to pass me the ball. I demanded a trade.

Well that's awkward, I didn't know who Pierce was for a while.

He was kind of a big deal in the early 2000's from what I remember. Are you a new fan?
