 Luol Deng vs Jeff Green

Deng(2013 All-star)

MPG:39.2
, FG%.425  3P%.319  FT%.82  RPG:6.7  APG:2.9  PPG:16.5, Eff:14.82

vs

Green

MPG:25.2  FG%.458  3p%.360  Ft%.82  Rpg:3.4  Apg:1.1 PPG: 10.9,  Eff:13.99

So if Jeff Green played an extra 14mins per game, would he not be an all star as well? Can we objectively compare the two?  :)

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

No.

Deng is a better defender.  A better rebounder.  A better passer.

Mind you Deng is not a star either.  Just another good role player.  He was having a stronger season before this last month when his shooting dropped under 40%.

I'm not too sure Green's overpaid. Deng, definitely. But Green? His contract is looking more and more like a steal every minute.

He is a 2012 and a 2013 All Star.

I think/hope/cross my fingers until they break that Jeff will become an All-Star. It seems within reach. I doubt he'll become an All-Star starter (though Rondo will be for years to come), but he will be a bench All-Star guy at least 3 or 4 times (if he continues his upward path).

Didnt realize Deng was having such a bad year. Pierce should have gone ahead of him.

Last year he killed it apparently not this year tho

Maybe Jeff has sucked all of the talent out of Deng.  :D

I can live with people trying to compare Deng with Green, although I still give the edge overall to Deng due to his defense. Deng has had a bad season, however. What drives me crazy though is when people compare Green to Lebron (happening on the front page right now), which is hilarious.

Dint get me wrong, I love Jeff and what he can bring, but the fact that Deng is having a bad year and yet people would still take him over Jeff Green right now says it all.

I think there's too much discounting of the defensive work Green has put forth this season.

Yeah, don't see the reason to compare Green to LeBron, but there are some aspects to their games that can be paralleled in some fashion, but Green is not a physical player, and while LeBron at time try to be a finesse player, his dominance comes from his physicality. Completely superior passer and rebounder, and LeBron's defense really has little comparison to anyone in the league at the SF spot.

That said, Green's performance last night is worthy of a comparison of a LeBron-like performance, but that's where it should end.

Deng also needs wrist surgery.

I disagree with the bold text.

I disagree with your disagreement. Luol Deng is the better defender, one of the best in the league. Jeff Green is a decent defender most nights, very good some nights, poor others.
