not much effort put in to make a playoff worthy team

What is this based upon?

It's already a playoff worthy team  ::)

If Fab Melo has to play any real minutes it might not be.

He won't. Maybe for a game.

Doc said C’s will monitor buyouts and D-League to add big. Nothing imminent. Doc also plans to sit KG at times, leaving C’s really small.

Really small? That should be a lot of fun. :/

At this point, I am all about Fab getting as much playing time as possible. We aren't going anywhere this year so we might as well see what we have in our [uninjured] first round pick.

Excellent -- how much would we have to hear about it?  ;D

The ONLY thing, that I'm a bit disappointed about, is that Danny apparantly didn't try to get Chris Andersen to Boston. I really don't see anyone else both desirable and available, unless we would give up even more players. Remember that the Celtics are under a hard cap, and unless we clear salary (and roster places), as Danny did with the Crawford-trade, there is just no wiggle room.

If your view of NBA team management is as myopic as "win it all" then you are going to be disappointed.

The goal for all these franchises, even the Celtics and the Lakers, is to put a team out there that is competitive, fun to watch, fun to root for, and fills the seats.  Yes there is a premium for winning championships in Boston and LA.

But let's not kid ourselves:  the Celtics have one championship over the last 25 years.  Might as well be the Kansas City Royals.  And during the 90's there wasn't much difference between the two honestly.

Enter Wyc, Danny, and Doc.  They have put together a franchise that has been incredibly enjoyable to watch.  Since we got KG, they have also been incredibly good.  Any fan who is not full of himself would easily admit that the past 6 years of Celtics basketball is about as good as it gets in the NBA, from a fan standpoint.  Hell, ask a Knicks fan about that.

So yeah...keeping the 2 guys basically responsible for the last 6 years of awesome, enjoyable basketball, 2 hall of famers, 2 all-time Celtics greats....keeping them around for another year or to is pretty good idea to me.

If you'd rather watch Beldsoe and Jordan, go with Simmons and become a Clippers fan.

I was hoping we'd get a big from the Rockets they had a glut of good forwards.

Listen, this fan base is extremely bi polar. First you have posters who believe we need to inject youth into the team...Danny gets a 24 year old shooting guard with a good handle but an attitude problem for Jason Collins...Ill say this again...Ainge traded a stiff center that averaged around 10 minutes per game for a 24 year old volume scoring shooting guard. People wanted to blow it up to get young assets. Ainge got a solid young asset for free and everyone is getting angry? Why? Because we didn't get a super duper big name? We replaced Barbosa and it sure is hell isn't going to be difficult to replace Collins. People are mad that KG and Pierce didn't get traded for the future hall of fame talents of Eric Bledsoe and Deandre Jordan, just like when Perk got traded you would have thought that Bill Russell was just traded to the Lakers for scrubs by the reaction of the fans. Ainge is the GM for a reason, he probably wanted to do the Clipper deal but KG was too loyal? In a sport where we all Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. and moan about the mercenary aspect, KG wanted to be here, Pierce wanted to be here, everyone loves buying shiny new toys but sometimes the older ones are more reliable.
