If Pierce and KJ are still here at 3:01pm, we can forget winning anything for the next 5 to 10 years. We will be stuck as a .500 ball club. The worst position to be in the NBA.
At least you aren't overreacting.
They could just extend Pierce for two years after this one (gets $5M buyout plus new two year $20M contract?). By doing that, you still field a competitive team the next two years capable of doing damage and you have Pierce, KG, Bass, and Terry all off the books the same year. You could start over with Rondo, Green, Lee, Sully, Bradley and enough cap space to bring in another major player.
Granted, a lot of these role players can get moved tomorrow and/or in the offseason for different contracts, but if no deals gets done, I don't think we will become the Bobcats for the next decade.
