I remember this kid being a beast against us, and I saw a couple of highlight games too.

Would this work?
Opinions about him and his game?

Tell me ONE reason they would do this. Greg Smith has higher upside, is already NBA-caliber AND cheap

Why in the world would they trade anyone for Melo? Melo's not NBA ready.

They have sent Greg Smith to the d-league a couple of times.
And Houston has a plethora of Forward/Center
Patrick Patterson
Cole Aldrich
Donatas Motiejūnas
Terrence Jones
Omer Asik
Marcus Morris

It will be hard for Greg Smith to get consistent minutes.

If Houston did this, they'd be worse than me in Pick Two.

Maybe Danny Ainge can sweet talk Mchale again, and convince the organization to do this trade.

Greg Smith was an undrafted player who was signed from the D-League.  Even though he was recently sent down to the D-League to work on his game (mainly to improve his defense, but McHale was quoted as saying Smith lost his energy and stopped doing things like using both hands to try and pull down rebounds) and replaced in the rotation by Cole Aldrich, my point isn't that he really sucks but that similar talent may be freely available.  Henry Sims seems to be talked about as a guy with upside among D-League watchers.

Yeah, I'd say so. I have no interest in this type of a deal though.

Fab Melo has an intriguing combination of size and athleticism. Give him some time to develop. He could be a really good defensive center a few years from now.

I am against giving up on that possibility for a so-so backup big man like Greg Smith.
