Lakers absolutely say no to this.  They can get far better in return for even a rental of Dwight Howard.

But great effort!

Is there any way that Dwight resigns in Atlanta with such a depleted cast around him?  I say no.  He forced his way out of a far better Orlando team.  And Atlanta recognizes this which means they don't do it without an extension in place (which doesnt happen).

Ok well rather than starting another thread, I modified the original trade. This time it includes Indiana instead of the Fake Show. Less moving parts this time.

BOSTON Trades:

Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett
Fab Melo
Jason Terry
(2nd round pick to ATL)

BOSTON Receives:

Josh Smith
Al Horford
Eric Bledsoe
Ben Hansbrough

ATLANTA Trades:

Al Hordford
Josh Smith
Devin Harris

ATLANTA Receives:

Danny Granger
DeAndre Jordan
Lamar Odom
DJ Augustin
Fab Melo
(1st Round pick from LAC)
(2nd Round pick from BOS)

CLIPPERS Trade:

DeAndre Jordan
Eric Bledsoe
Lamar Odom
Caron Butler
(1st round pick to ATL)

CLIPPERS Receive:

Kevin Garnett
Paul Pierce

INDIANA Trades:

Danny Granger
Ben Hansbrough
DJ Augustin

INDIANA Receives:

Caron Butler
Devin Harris
Jason Terry

Similar Trades for BOSTON and LAC, so I won't go in to the explanations.

Why for Atlanta?

They downgrade from Horford to a rotation of DeAndre Jordan and Fab Melo, but rather than just lose out on Josh Smith, they gain Danny Granger, who has an additional season under his contract. Odom's expiring deal, as well as Augustin (if they chose not to retain him) free's up more money than just letting Harris expire. They can use it on Teague, or whoever else they want to bring in, on top of the $$$ they save from Jordan/Granger costing less than Horford/Smith as well. Picks plus a prospect in Melo also solidify the return for ATL.

Why for Indiana?

Granger no longer fits in their rotation. He will want to be a starter, and George is playing better. Granger isn't going to bring them enough this year to make a playoff push, but Caron Butler will. He is cheaper, and fits their rotation as a backup, or starter at SG. Devin Harris is a better PG than Augustin for this year, and his expiring $$$ can go to pay Paul George. Jason Terry also steps in as a veteran leader on a young team with not much playoff experience.
