  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I admit I was incredibly surprised he has stayed relatively healthy. He's growing to be one of my favorite players to watch.
I like Marcus Smart

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Thought the Cavs made a huge mistake with him and Tristan Thompson.

Thought they should've drafted Derrick Willaims and Enes Kanter.

Wrong and wrong.

I was totally totally wrong .  But honestly, how many people ever really got to see him other than his home high school crowd....he hardly played at Duke.

Knowing what I know now , he would have been a first round pick for me,    he is close as anybody to the next CP3

I thought he was going to be a bust, as well.  Just too unproven, injury prone, and unathletic.

That's why nobody should trust my evaluations of draftees.

Kyrie Irving and to a lesser extent Tristan Thompson are great examples of why selling off picks because a draft is going to be "weak" is a really, really dumb idea.  How strong a draft is usually ends up being a matter of how players develop, not what their talent level is when they are drafted.

The 2010 draft was supposedly STACKED and so far it has produced mixed results.  The 2009 draft, on the other hand, was supposedly super weak and has turned out quite a few quality players.

The 2011 draft was supposed to be epically weak due to the impending lockout, and Kyrie Irving was supposedly a weak #1 overall.

Yet here we are and Irving is considered the next great point guard, maybe the next great player period.  Crazy.

Meanwhile, John Wall (2010) and Anthony Davis (2012), the top guys from "stacked" drafts, appear to be quality players.  But neither has really shown franchise-altering, dominant ability yet.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I thought, like most draftniks, there were possibly two excellent players coming out of his draft, him and Derrick Williams, and a bunch of role players or busts.

Looks like I was wrong and there was only one excellent player.

Never thought he would rise to such levels of play or do so as quickly as he did though.

I thought it was a bad draft with no franchise-level talents.

Irving, to me, was intriguing but I found it too easy to believe that the ten-game stretch before his injury was a fluke.  People put together stretches of good basketball all the time.  Why was his any different?

Let's just say that he has shown me exactly why his was different.

Being a Duke fan, I saw his games before he got hurt there, and he was destroying everybody in front of him as a freshman.  Figured he'd be great.

As a Duke fan, I probably saw every one of his game in college (which wasn't many).

I thought it was obvious he would be good.  Possible All-Star.

Never did I think he would become an All-Star so fast.  Not only that, but he's. Looking like he will shortly be considered a superstar.

My judgment was probably colored by how mad at him I was for giving Duke so little, but showing so much promise.  And then abruptly leaving.
