We might as well put Tyrion in at center.

Quote
“We have players we like in the D-League, and we have a little more than a week before the trade deadline. And we’ll explore all of that. Immediately we will probably bring someone in on a 10-day contract, and we’re going through all those names. There’s a lot of names actually, but it’s going to be very difficult to replace Leandro Barbosa.”

“Immediately” will likely mean the end of the All-Star break that starts tomorrow, and in terms of free agents, the Celtics are looking beyond the D-League and the U.S. border.

“There are guys playing all around the world, and I need to figure out when they may become available with their contracts,” said Ainge. “So there’s a lot to go through here.”

I'm liking Shelvin Mack or Johnny Flynn. Both would be nice pick ups.

With the 16th pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics select Daenerys Targaryen (and her 3 dragons + 8000 Unsullied) from the continent of Essos!

Dionte Christmas and Jabar Smith.

I'd prefer someone who can play the point, but Christmas would be nice to see again.

Ugh, don't tell me we're gonna put our trust in D league players that doc won't play anyways. I was hoping for Kmart or somebody at least proven.

I hated Shelvin Mack in Washington. One of the worst guards I have seen in some time.

I really do not want to see him here in Boston.

Dionte Christmas and Jabar Smith.
I would love to have Christmas back but I don't see him leaving his deal in Moscow to play the second half of the season with the Celtics without a guarantee next year.

Smith can knock down some 3's, get hot and help us score.

GOD NO on Jamar Smtih.

When he was with us in the Summer league he was up there in the top 10 for worst players I have ever seen in a Celtic Jersey.

I would rather sign an out of shape Dooling over Jamar Smith any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Dionte Christmas and Jabar Smith.

It's Jamar Smith, but yeah, those two guy seem like realistic targets.

The trouble is that the Celtics only have two open roster spots, which seems weird considering they only really have NINE rotation players at the moment.  I think Barbosa will need to be waived, unless he gets sent out in some minor trade for salary matching purposes.

The Celtics really need another guard, a 2/3 type, and a 4/5 type.

My ideal would be getting Dejaun Blair for very little (e.g. Barbosa, cash consideration, and a couple of future second rounders), then signing Dionte Christmas and maybe somebody like Andy Rautins (3 pt shooter) or Rashad McCants.  Or maybe you just get another small guy like Jamar Smith.

Game notes

The Celtics were 4 for 18 from the floor in the second quarter, making 33 percent of their shots in the first half. They were 4 for 21 in the third. ... The Celtics' eight points in the third quarter were the team's fewest in a period this season, two less than they managed in the fourth quarter of a 106-77 loss at the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 27. ... Former Celtic Antoine Walker was in the crowd. ... The Bulls had a season-high 22 turnovers.

Did anybody else see this in the ESPN game notes?  Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?  8)

I haven't calculated it myself though it looks good from the eyeball test, but the Celtics are said to have room for only two minimum contracts under the hard cap (because they used the full MLE on Terry), so to add a third player, they would almost certainly have to send Barbosa in a salary dump to another team (presumably with cash for a heavily protected second-round pick) to clear cap space to add a third player via free agency.
