IndeedProceed selects Cleveland, Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.

And he doesn't want to hear about it from Roy Hobbs.

He's going to hear about it from Roy Hobbs
Yes he is most definitely going to hear about it from Roy Hobbs.

Any GM who hasn't chosen a team by 9pm EST will be removed.

With 28 GMs, two franchises won't be selected.

Does this mean that the players on those franchises will not be draft eligible?

I was walking along the road with two friends
the sun was setting
suddenly the sky turned blood red
I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence
there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city
my friends walked on and I stood there trembling with anxiety
and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.

I'd imagine they'd all be eligible.  Make it like the two franchises were just contracted.

I'm pretty sure that just means the entire team is up for grabs.  More fun that way.

...we should come up with a template for reporting salaries as we draft.  Something like this attached to each draft post:

Carmelo Anthony $19.4
Tyson Chandler  $13.6
Draft Pick #1    $9.2
______________________
Total:          $42.2

BTW, can we make a gentlemen's agreement about rounding salaries to the nearest $100k or $10k?  Kind of a pain to do the exact dollar amounts.

You're the only team that can afford Kobe :P

It is kinda crazy that I'm #2 oops, #4 in payroll and have $18 million less to play around with.

I like the idea of rounding it to the nearest $100K, much easier.  Nearest $10K works though too.

I am all for that. Yes, please. Do this!

Edit: On second thought, $10k would be better. Two decimal places. $7.46 million. Nice and neat. And accurate.

I would be against this idea. I think it would be a bit annoying to do that every time you make a pick + it will clutter up the draft thread.

We normally have a separate rosters thread so we can see everybody's teams side-by-side. I think we should do that but also have a 2nd separate sticky thread for salaries.

(1) Rosters
(2) Salaries by team

One for rosters. One for salary listings of individual players and team salary. Better to separate them so people can scan team's rosters more quickly when discussing them after the draft.

People could post their updated teams in each thread every so often.

That would be my preferred option.

While I agree that it'll be annoying, I think we should take a few extra steps to make the math as transparent as possible. Nothing will be worse than if we have a few teams near the end unable to fill out their rosters.

We could compromise and just have people state their total salary before the pick, the salary of the guy they picked, and the new total.  It would keep things from getting too cluttered as the rosters filled up.

Kind of a related question - are we allowed to be over the cap at any point in the process?  Do we just have to make it under the cap at the end or do we have to stay under that amount for the entire draft?

No.  Your budget is a hard cap.
