I think you can still go into the next 2 years with Rondo, KG, and Pierce as your corp.
The key is to get a bigger 2 guard who can shoot and slash that plays solid defense (to offset moving bradley to the bench), and a 4 or a 5 who can rebound, and play in the post.
The shooting/slashing 2 guard will help take some of the burden off of pierce to get us shots in the 4th or get us to the line. Bradley could be this guy, but he has to work on his offense. Mayo is another guy who comes to mind and will be a free agent.
The big is to obviously help us with rebounding but also give us another option to throw the ball into and get a shot when the offense bogs down. Someone like David West. I think he might be a free agent.
I think Danny is thinking the same way, considering he basically had trades completed for both last season until West chose indy and Memphis backed out on the Mayo trade. Think about our team this year if we had those two?
A few side things to make this really work, is Doc has to let Green play more and play pierce less...and Rondo must find the confidence to take shots and get to the line.
And if you can't make that happen, then yes, you trade Rondo for a PG/SG with a better ability to score and pair them with Jeff Green, Sully, Avery and build around them. I would considered Eric Gordon. After last night, I might even look at Kemba and Mullins for Rondo. And a long shot...go after westbrook for Rondo.
