On Around The Horn, they was talking Atlanta-Brooklyn trade. Hawks trade Josh Smith to Brooklyn for Kris Humphries, Marshawn Brooks, and a 1st..they said its a rumor going around. Question is, would u do it if u are Atlanta or Brooklyn?? If i was the Nets, I do it in a second!!

Huge upgrade for the Nets. Puts them in the title mix.

I would rather let J.Smith's deal run out than take on an extra year of Humphries' contract at $12 million a season. A first and Marshon Brooks doesn't make that $12 million worthwhile. Just let him leave for nothing and spend the cap space on somebody useful. They can always pick up a package similar to Brooks + 1st by renting out the cap space to another team for a different bad contract later on. The risk is minimal.

Hard to see Ferry going for this deal.

I know there was noise from Hawks before about wanting a Center in any move for Smoove.

Humphries hasn't been playing well this year compared to the last two and he's not a center, and Brooks after performing when he got a lot of touches on a poor Nets team last year where no one else could score has reverted back to the mean of mediocrity.

Also, the first from the Nets is gonna be in the mid to high twenties, espp.with Smith.

I guess it depends on how despearte Ferry is, but there must be other packages out there that would be more attractive. E.g.Jeff Green, Sullinger, Melo and a first, just as a hypothetical, not a real offer.

That's not too bad of a deal for Atlanta either............

I just don't get how that is all Atlanta would get for Smith.  I think Bass, Lee, Melo, and a 1st a better deal and I think Boston would do that in an instant.

Would Celtics trade all that for a half year rental?? Now if he agree to a long term contract, yes, but if he dont then i wouldnt do it

I don't think we could give up Lee for anything right now unless we go a SG back with Smith. MELO,BASS,SULLINGER I would do but no 1st.

I will believe that deal when I see it. Likely a leak by Atlanta to get other teams to bid.

Josh Smith is on record as saying that he wants the max next year.

Two questions: 1. are we willing to give that to him if we get him in trade?  and if not,

2. does JSmoove take less than the max to have a real good shot at winning a 'chip with us?

Others have done it, why not him?

I am by no means a big Josh Smith fan, but that is a terrible trade for Atlanta. Humphries is essentially a negative contract right now, Brooks is okay, but certainly not a future star, and a late first round pick in a questionable draft can simply be bought.

This would be worse than what Orlando got for Howard.

If Humpty had an expiring contract it would be a decent deal.  Alas, he does not, therefore I can't see Atlanta doing this deal.  It makes no sense.

Great deal for New Jersey, absolute failure for Atlanta.

Kris Humphries sucks now that he's getting paid, Marshon Brooks only plays at one end of the court, and a New Jersey pick isn't worth much.  Just nothing in that package worth giving up a borderline star for.

Er, Brooklyn.  My bad.  I still haven't entirely kicked the habit of calling them New Jersey, haha.
