HmmMMMmmmmMMMMMmmmmmMMMMMMmmmmmmmMMMMMMM1!!1one!1! Why would they trade an All-Star, top-3, DPOY in a hard position to fill, with a veteran steal PG who has great chemistry in the team... for an injured PG and an OK PF? They have a chance at a championship and they're not gonna give it up THAT easily

Celtics would have to say no. Jeff Green can't be the third string SF.

Too bad we didn't trade Ray Allen's 10 mill. expiring deal to Dallas for a S + T of Tyson Chandler back in 2011 after the lockout.
Chandler and KG's interior defense would have pretty much won a title by itself.

That would be ridiculous, but Dallas wouldn't have done that, would they?

Sure. They ended up just sign and trading him to NY for a Trade Exception. They then used that Trade Exception AND a first round pick to acquire Lamar Odom. And before Odom was available they were the third team that was going to take Jermaine O'Neal so we could get David West in a S+T. Ray Allen on an expiring deal > then losing a pick to get Odom > JO The Celts fell out of the David West running when the New Orleans Hornets couldn’t find a place to send Jermaine O’Neal (Lamar Odom going from the Los Angeles Kings to the Dallas Mavericks got in the way). New Orleans was looking for a another trade partner, but the Indiana Pacers stepped in with a two-year, $20 million deal for West, who received much more annually than the C’s were offering.
Besides, the Hornets have a bigger issue on their plate in the form of Chris Paul. New Orleans was reportedly looking to the Los Angeles Clippers yesterday for a deal, but the Celts could still get back in the running for the guard according to two sources. http://www.stateoftheceltics.com/2011/12/why-david-west-didnt-land-with-celtics.htmlAt the time I think Ainge was weary of giving that kind of investment to Chandler (Over 30 yrs old with injury history) just like Cuban was. He also probably didn't want to break up the big 4. This was linked to the Herald but the story has been archived. Obviously they meant the Lakers and not the Kings.. http://bostonherald.com//sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2011/12/david_west_changes_direction

Salaries don't match, otherwise it's a no-brainer for the Knicks You get more of Melo -- more inches, more pounds, and more Samba.

I wanted to trade KG for T.Chandler at that time. Dallas keeps the 2012 cap flexibility with KG's expiring contract + gets a star player who can aid their title defense. While Boston gets a younger big man who allows them to rebuild on the run. I also wanted to go after Rudy Gay with Paul Pierce. Rebuild around Rondo, Gay and Tyson.
