-On one hand, the Celtics are playing really well. 7 straight wins without Rondo (not much of a surprise, I've always felt it's a better team without him.)

AND, everyone is stepping up, from Paul/KG to Green, Terry, Barbosa, Lee and Bradley.

So for all intents and purposes, this is kinda like a Cinderella team right now

Do you keep things as is (maybe even add an addition for the stretch run) or do you possibly think about making a move if you don't think the Celts can win the East?

Right now, the trade value of the likes of Paul, KG, Terry and even Bass may not get any higher.

So do you think about making a splash now to build the next great Celtics team or do you just ride this thing out and hope the Cs can make a run at the finals?

TP. I was literally seconds away from making this same thread.

He's in a tough spot for sure. The team certainly has built some great chemistry and everybody has slid into their roles and bought in. Making a move could certainly disrupt a lot.

However, this team clearly needs a legit center who can defend and rebound. While the winning streak is nice the celtics have been POUNDED in the paint and have an obvious hole.

Now, even if you want to make a trade, who do you move? If you trade Bass for a center now you have to start KG at PF? If you move a guard (say Terry or Lee) now you are one injury away from being in real trouble.

I still think in the end, his options are just too limited and he stays put and searches the buy-out list

I don't think there is a deal out there to build "the next great Celtics team."

Our best chance of winning it all the next two years are with Pierce and Garnett.  Maybe we pick up a C this year, there will probably be a couple buyouts.

If not, we get a D-League big and maybe Chris Wright who would really fit with this up and down style and see what happens.

All players are playing to their potential now. With Rondo, it seemed we were getting about 75% of their respective talent from the role players. Now everyone (especially the guards) are getting regular touches and free to play how they have their entire careers.

I think Ainge has to let this group fight this one out, they've earned it. No real fan can be mad at him standing pat with all they've shown us these last two weeks.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If anything I think Danny's job got a bit easier because trade value of the guys are rising up. Sure it might disrupt chemistry but we still have a glaring need for a big dude, and this is a "strike while its hot" thing.

IMO.

I'd trade Rondo for 75 cents on the dollar -- likely for a solid 4 or 5 under the age of 30.

Don't think Orlando and Atlanta go for trade 1 and 3. The second one is interesting. I would LOVE to get both Gortat and Milsap. Only problem is I am not sure Utah gets enough value back.

Just ideas -- the kind of stuff I'd be considering and discussing.

That's how I see it. Unless Ainge gets in on three team trade I don't know how he can get a legit big.

If Atlanta traded us Horford and Korver for Rondo/Bass, I'd personally drive Rondo and Bass to the airport (lol!)

I've always been a fan of Horford and imagine the extra life he'd give KG
