Celtics-Lakers is one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports.  No other team on this list even belongs in the conversation.

I just "dislike" The Heat.

Lakers? Despise...Loathe...Can't stand...

ahh yes, but I RESPECT the LAkers for their titles and organization. The HEAT? I do not respect them at all.

Lakers

Heat

Knicks

Pretty much sums it up for me.  I think the Sixers have dropped to 4th for now.  Over our history I'd say they are number 2.  We had some great battles in the 80's and before that the 60's.

The Lakers will always be public enemy number one....the other slots change over the course of time.  In the 80's it was LA and then the Sixers.

The Heat are easy to hate for the obvious reasons (dirty Wade, Egomaniacal LeBron, and the Allen defection...but they are no way important enough to be considered true rivals.   Momentary roadblocks, maybe.

Remember that clutch deflection by House, steal by Pierce, and dagger three by ___? Biggest shot!! 'twas huge... Down 2, under 1.5 seconds, and not your ball. Greatest shot that wiki to in the books.....!

Who cares about the Knicks? The most overrated NBA franchise in the history of the game.
The Knicks would need to win rings for me to even notice them.

Boston/NY could have a chess match and it would be a big deal.

I understand the baseball part.Because they own Boston in that sport.  But in Basketball the Knicks aren't even in the picture. The Knicks are a joke.

To be a real rivalry there must be more of an intertwined history, to my mind.  Otherwise, you can say that every  opposing team is a rivalry.
