I just saw a clip on espn Boston, with Steven A Smith and some white guy , arguing about KG taking too many jump shot for a guy with so much height and length. The white guy (can someone name him) stated that it bothered him KG didn't score inside more. That even though he is skinny , he has amazing height/length and is a strong guy. Smith argues, KG is built a certain way (skinny) , that he can't push his man off and score those easy inside the paint shots in like some centers in the league can. And in the end who cares how he scores.

For me before we got KG, i did feel the same way, that kg was way too much of a perimeter player. And when we gave up Jefferson who was pretty much, all about playing around the paint, our inside game would suffer. But as i've grown to appreciate kg's game, as long as he doesn't shy away in the paint on the defensive end, i couldn't care less how he scores on the offensive end. I mean even if he didn't score one bucket, he is still very important to have on the court.  For his height, its true, he could score a little more inside shots. He hasn't developed the inside game in his life i guess bc he was always a SF and just kept growing , until he reached a centers height by the time he got drafted. And even though he doesn't have fancy inside hookshots , fakes, etc. I think he has done a better job in Boston, being conscious to utilize his size more and score some buckets closer to the basket. But even then, his 18 ft jumpers have been near automatic these past few years, its pretty incredible. Maybe he feels if its not broken, why fix it.

no, he is one of the best shooting power forwards of all time. He makes his shots.

The problem especially his first 5 to 8 seasons is he's undersized when it comes to his weight.

Remember he played during Shaqs body building days. All the PF's and Centers were bulking up. KG just doesn't have that body. No way could he bang with those guys.

Same now, he's still on the slight side, and older, he had to change his game to compete.

Also remember he started in this league as a SF...

This is the exact reason why he's one of the most unique and talented players of all time

Why did Magic and Bird, 6'9" tall handle the ball like a guard and rack up alot of assists?

Why did Charles Barkley, 6'5" tall play like a center, bangs in the middle, and gets alot of rebounds?

Why did Wilt Chamberlain, 7'1" tall lead the league in assists one season?

agreed. If after 5 seasons he wasn't going to change his game than, ppl will have to accept how he plays.

But fortunately, i think he has played more in the paint when he become a celtic. In minny he was so banged up trying to do everything, if he also tried to bang inside on the offensive end, it would have cut his career short probably.

Its interesting though how some players transitioned from one position to drastically another that prolonged their careers. Someone correct me, but didn't Magic at the tail end of his career play some pf/c? Pierce was originally a SG and after 5 seasons has become a very good SF and is one of the best rebounders for a sf. And now KG from SF to playing C.

Anyone else i'm missing?

I don't have the stats but I'm under the impression that KG's been having more at rim attempts these past few games.

Its quite obvious that the white guy and Steven A. Smith are both stupid.

1. KG takes jump-shots because we are a jump-shooting team.
2. KG takes jump-shots because he is a very good jump-shooter.
3. Our offensive plays often sets him up for an easy jumper.
4. KG goes down low and scores efficiently whenever he wants to.
5. I have seen countless times KG go down low, post up, and score with ease.
6. KG has always been a team player. He has always done for the team has required him to do.
7. How is it that in late-game situations when its a close game, we see KG post up down low asking for the ball? Its because Doc and the team asks him to do it.
8. KG has repeatedly posted up down low and anyone who thinks he is too thin to do it or can't do it is either completely clueless about what he is saying or is just stupid as crazy.

One more thing, KG has never been shy of posting up or playing around the rim. He is as tough mentally as they come who play their hardest, unlike a bunch of big-name players in the league right now who cry to the ref after every call.

Additionally, do you not remember KG bleeding in a game and playing through it? I don't remember him crying to the ref or flopping like crazy.

More post play would be better but KG is who he is.

A 60% (high post) 40% (low post) type split would be a welcome improvement.

No, he doesn't take too many jump shots... he simply doesn't take enough shots inside.

So in all, I would like to see him shooting more overall.

Its like jordan who rarely shot threes though he was one of the best jump shooters of all time. Guys like kg and Jordan just do what works

I've heard this before, but I still don't really get it. He took a few 3's when he was with the Wolves and it didn't go so well, but in those days he wasn't a 45% shooter on his long two's. I'm not saying he should be bombing, but a lot of bigs have had success developing that shot from the top of the key. It can carve out a lot of room for cutters. I have a hard time imagining that KG couldn't take one or two a game to help space the floor and hit 35-40% of them at this stage.
