As a rule I am generally loyal to the players and won't have a knee jerk reaction to things. however...

It seems at this point in time that the team is pretty comfortable without Rondo. Let's say hypothetically that the team continues to play well down the stretch and makes a bit of noise in the plays, are we then at the stage where best option is to look at trading Rondo to address the needs of the team?

Granted, next year with both PP & KG another year older I find it hard that they could possible continue maintain the level they are playing at now, so there is likely some drop off there, but am I wrong in thinking that we could dangle Rondo and likely trade him for 90-95% of the other players in the league...that sure gives us some options.

Anyone else starting to think this is starting to become a potentially realistic option?

The other thing I suppose is, if we do continue to have success, does that inadvertently reduce Rondo's trade value because, from the outside looking in, it's apparent we don't need him and he has become expendable?

His trade value wasn't too high, and that ACL injury made the situation even worse now. Our winning record without him will only lower that value more.
Other teams won't be willing to give up great pieces for him, unless he comes back and proves he's back to the way he was. Besides, you don't want your star player to coast through regular season and choose the games when he will get loose.

Not much, I'd say.

Trade him in Seattle for Cousins and Evans. This way we get two good young players for the present and the future, and they get the all star point guard. It's not like they going somewhere anyway this season. Plus they get the chance the next season to reunite RR and his friend Josh Smith.

to the jazz with bass...
for big al and hayward...

and why?

for the jazz, big al is an expiring contract... they might lose big al via free agency... they have a surplus of big men... they need a very good point guard... with rondo next year, their bigs can be even more productive...the prob is, if the jazz feel they can contend (i doubt it) with their current lineup, then they wont pull the trigger...

for the celts, it is a win-now trade... i do think big al can help the celtics go very deep in the playoffs, even win a championship...a kg/jefferson frontline will be hard to stop even for miami and NY...If big al dont re-sign, then there is still a lot of free agents to target..

why is everyone eager to trade rondo?
we definitely need him come playoffs time
that intensity we need from him
rebounds assist points
is a huge factor

unless you give me a d-rose and westbrook type who attack the baskets but can also rebounds

thats a rare to a point guard 6'1
every team will bid for him ASAP
specially those teams with lowest rebound percentages
rondo for a BIG MAN?
then who is our point guard
rondo is really a pure point guard
that you can't find anywhere

he does not have a jump shots, less shot creator, less cutter type guy or isolation type guy
but those assist and rebounds, is very rare nowadays

someone says rondo for dwight?
rondo to kobe + gasol is a killer line-up
with very good floor vision
specially miami heat perimeter shooters?
even rondo hold the ball so long
heat players are just waiting for 3's

we definitely need this guy
off course as we all know good ball movements
rondo out

still a + factor having a real point guard
and i say it again, very rare 6'1 who can get 15 or 17 rebounds
even he does not score a lot
assist + rebounds helps a lot

On the fence about trading rondo. Part of me fears the Jason Kidd effect where once traded his new team excels while old team falls to the MBA basement. The other part of me thinks that the best chance at a quick rebuild to to more rondo for young talent.

I like the idea of a trade built around rondo to Orlando or bobcats on draft day for Noel. I think he will be an all nba defensive center for years and a nice piece to go alon with Avery and sully. The fact that long athletic bigs are the hardest talents to find makes this a solid move for the future. We would hopefully be set at sg, pf, and center for years.

A PG FOR A CENTER? THAT IS UNSURE?

THEN WHO WILL BE YOUR RONDO REPLACEMENT THEN?

If you believe the even half the rumors, then DA's been trying to sell high on rondo for a while now.  But, again if you believe the rumors, other teams don't really value rondo that highly.  After tearing his knee, and the teams recent performance, that value is even lower.

Bottom line:  I don't think most fans would be very happy with what we could actually get for rondo, even before the injury.

are you kidding me??? Dwight to the Celts don't make us a contender...woa! We're already a contender for starts without Rondo, adding a D12 instead of Bass or Wilcox makes us much much much much much better.

The problem with trading Rondo is his value to us and how the rest of the league sees his value as. Rondo is great but his value around the league isn't so high. Any trade invloving Rondo which reEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.s in us getting 1 great player or 2-3 very good players is plausible.

Not much point in wondering until we see how he does coming back from injury.

I doubt anybody will be willing to give us a decent value in return for Rondo until they've seen him on the floor again.
