I've been playing pickup bball on the courts of inner-city Brooklyn for the past 8 years and most of the kids make that sound whenever they're open and want the ball. Kind of annoying for an "older" raised-in-suburbia white dude, but I've gotten used to it over the years. I always figured it was just a more subtle way of screaming I'M OPEN!
