Bos gets: Smith
Atl gets: Green, Bass + 1st

Very tough trade that I wouldn't really want to do, but to acquire an all-star you have to give up very good pieces. What do yall think  ???

That is tough. Not so much the Bass part or even the pick part. I just love how Green is playing, and I don't know of any FA small fowards that could do what he does for this team right now. Idk I would love Josh Smith but we'll see. Maybe we could get a 3rd team in and try to give less talent but something like Bass Lee and Melo going seprate ways with us getting J-smoove. Unlikely though.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think this deal works because we are hard-capped when we gave Terry the full MLE.  IOW, we need to send more salary out.  A bigger problem is that Smith has reportedly rejected a 3 year deal for close to $16 million per year and wants more years.

I like the deal, but don't like the money we'd have to spend to keep him.

You do realize that Smith and Rondo are really god freinds and that the main reason he wold probably want to come to Boston is to play with Rondo next year?

BTW FIsher and West are both terrible...

I'm not sure why this is "tough"

1. This is not a great draft, so the pick isn't a huge deal.

2. Bass is dead weight I would love to lose anyways.

3. Green hurts a little, but Smith is such an upgrade over him.  You have to give up something good to get something good.

The thing that would hurt is if Smith holds out for a max deal.  But if you can get him now, for Green, Bass and a pick (I would gladly throw Melo in as well), its a no brainer.

...and I kind of hate Smith.

I love Smith, but I also love Green.

I think I would just wait until the off-season and hope we can sign him as a free agent (assuming KG and Pierce retire)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

How about this one?

BOS - Smith, Walton, pick from MEM
CLE - Green
MEM - Lee
ATL - Sullinger, Melo, Barbosa (for dollars), pick from BOS, 9.8 million trade exception

Boston then flips Walton for some back-court help or brings in some free agents to fill that void.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I'd do this... (posted in another thread)

Boston OUT: Green, Lee, Bass, First
Boston IN: J.Smith, J.Bayless, Q.Pondexter

Memphis OUT: J.Bayless, Q.Pondexter
Memphis IN: Lee

Atlanta OUT: J.Smith
Atlanta IN: Green, Bass, BOS First

Yeah, I think the chances of this are insanely slim.  Not only those guys retiring, but Danny finagling enough cap space to sign Smith if they do.

If we want Smith, we are going to have to trade for him, either now, or as a sign and trade in the offseason.
