Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

The nba would be so much more fun to watch if more players played with AB's intensity
Reduce the schedule to 58 games a year instead of 82 and there would be a huge improvement both in terms of intensity from players + preparedness and execution.

The NBA really shooting itself in the foot by keeping this 82 game season around. Too long. Too many games. Not enough rest between games. Not enough practice sessions for coaching staffs to impact team.

Unfortunately more games, more tickets, more viewers and more $$$
