Here is the latest they are telling me: The San Antonio Spurs are the front-runners to land Al Jefferson in a trade with the Utah Jazz – and they are frontrunners like Secretariat was in the 1973 Belmont Stakes.

Sounds like Splitter, S Jack's contract and maybe a couple other assets.

Quote
Presumably they’d also ask for Tiago Splitter, because somebody would need to back up Kanter, and because Splitter is having an improved season in the year his contract expires – meaning Utah would not be taking on any long-term financial obligation.

San Antonio throws in Stephen Jackson for salary-matching purposes (almost an exact match), and voila. Captain Jack will love Salt Lake City, hunh?

Well, if this happens, Spurs are right there with the thunder up top on the west.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I'm not so crazy about it for San Antonio. I don't think Al makes them much better offensively.  And I think he makes them worse defensively.

It would be nice to see Big Al on a top-tier playoff team.  I hope this happens.

The become the biggest threat to the Heat.

In a 7 game series, how long do you really want Lebron banging down low with those two?

To save Lebron's energy, they've had Battier or Haslem guard the big in the post.  Haslem's a good defender while Battier hasn't held up as well as he did last year.  It's still an advantage for the Jazz of course.

There's a flip-side to this as well.  Jefferson is, if not the worst, at least in the bottom five, pick and roll defenders in the league.  He'd be a huge liability against a team boasting both Lebron and Wade.

even if this happens, Spurs still heavily depend on Big 3 health

Just run zone.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I think they'd be entirely too slow.

How many easy transition buckets would they give up against Denver, LAC, and if the Thunder went small?

They would control the boards.

And it is hard to run when the offense is making baskets.

Aren't they always pretty slow, though?

Makes sense for Utah

I'm not sold on Jefferson caring much about winning and could make San Antonio worse but it's the worth the risk for the spurs
