Howard becomes a free agent July 1 but wants to live in the present, sticking to his goal of winning the first championship of his nine-year career this season, no matter how unlikely it may seem with the Los Angeles Lakers getting off to a 22-26 start more than three months into the season.

Regardless of how he feels about the Lakers, he isn't signing an extension.  There is no financial incentive to do so.

I don't car what he says.  Even if he says he's "comitted" to the Lakers, he could still leave in the off-season.  Seeing how things went with Orlando over the last few years, his best move is obviously to not put anything concrete on record for the media to pick apart.

Deja Vu much?

Forced Orlando's hand last time, right?

He doesn't care about the franchises or loyalty. Hopefully the Lakers get screwed this time.

I'm talking about him walking and/or forcing the GM's hand.

The Lakers knew what they were getting themselves into.  They were willing to take the risk, so I fail to see how that constitutes getting screwed.

C'mon man. How they can new that the team in general is showing the best performance? DW12 is still the best defensive center in NBA. Be honest than...

And with Kobe telling the media Howard needs to suck it up and play through the pain....

Honestly, how could this have worked out better for the Celtics fan?

LA isn't going to trade him, and Howard isn't signing an extension. He'll let himself get wined and dined but I expect him back with the Lakers unless things escalate far beyond what they are now.

Except for all we know if we struggled for a while he could be complaining.

I lost a lot of respect for him how the Orlando thing went down, but then I lost about all respect for him this year.  I'm sure it's not easy playing with Kobe and the team wasn't set up well but at the same time all his complaints about not getting the ball and everything shows me he doesn't know what he should be as a player and what sacrifices have to be made to win a title.
