Who are the suns trading to Atlanta for Smith?
Only a vague rumor that the Suns may offer a package that includes Gortat. (Gortat for Smith works straight up, FWIW.)

I was walking along the road with two friends the sun was setting suddenly the sky turned blood red I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city my friends walked on and I stood there trembling with anxiety and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.

If i'm Atlanta i'd be so happy to get Gortat to put next to Horford.

Its a trade imo that is possible, on the condition we either win it all this year or we beat Miami. People I think are over valuing rondos worth healthy or not.

will the suns give their 2 best players for rondo's knee?
Rondo is no ordinary athlete. He will recover 100 percent next year and still be speedy as usual.
Exactly what they said about Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill :s
Meh, they've also said it about a lot of guys who bounced back better than ever. Chris Paul comes to mind.
Let's hope Rondo's knee doesn't turn out like Paul's.

The trade rumor is now totally denied by a writer in Phoenix.

I'll get ripped for this, but having nothing to do with Josh Smith, I'd do the below deal in a nanosecond: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ajsmsxw If PHX wants a star to build around, this would be one way to do it.

the deal I would do is this 3-way with ATL and PHX to make everyone happy (and get a return for Smith for ATL):
BOS: Trades Rondo, Collins, and Melo for Gortat and Dragic
ATL: Trades Smith for Frye, Beasley, and Melo.
PHX: Trades Gortat, Dragic, Frye, and Beasley and gets both Josh Smith and Rondo.
Just need to figure out who gets what picks from whom to grease the wheels.

Nah. I think both ATL and BOS would need a 1st from PHX, who would turn it over gladly. They'd be better for it by having shooters at the 4 to space the floor for Horford, who would become a focal point. Beas and Frye can run and shoot, have length, and Beasley's talent is probably not far from Smith's. A first should seal it, especially with Josh as a FA this summer. PHX, with nothing going for them, could offer Smith the max contract he doesn't deserve. For us, I like the idea of a KG/Gortat front line to go with the Bradley/Lee backcourt. I think we could hold opponents under 70 on a regular basis.

PHX would be retarded to trade for him giving up assets. He could be had via fa next year. There will be only 2 or 3 teams interested anyways.

Josh hears he's going to PHX to play with Rondo and he gets a max extension for his trouble. Done deal, bird in hand being preferable.

ATL - Dragic, Gortat, Dudley, Bass BOS - Teague, Williams, Morris, Johnson, PHO 1st PHX - Rondo, Smith, Terry
Boston will have to re-sign Teague this summer, but I think he is better than Dragic and would be a great fit on the team this year. Williams is out with injury, but has a great contract for his value and him Teague, Bradley, and Lee is a pretty nice backcourt rotation. Morris has shown some promise and is a nice young player to develop, plus you get a look at Johnson to see if there is anything there and a 1st (at some point).
Atlanta gets Dragic and Dudley for a new backcourt, Gortat so it can move Horford to PF, and Bass to pair with Pachulia as nice depth down low.
Phoenix gets Rondo and Smith to build around and Terry to provide some veteran leadership (and as a fill in till Rondo is back).
