Which back up PG could we fetch for a first rounder. Maybe even throw in Avery for the right guy. So who is out there that could be tempted.

Honestly I don't think it's worth it unless you're getting somebody with really high upside like Eric Bledsoe. But we're not getting him unless we trade Pierce or Garnett.
Anyway, I think the 4 guard rotation the Celtics have got right now is good enough for them to get by the rest of the season, considering the revised goals they ought to have now that Rondo is injured. There's no sense leveraging future assets for the sake of being a bit more competitive this season.

This. We aren't picking 30th in every round anymore. I feel like a lot of people here are really undervaluing a late-teens draft pick.

For a while now I've said I'd do something along the lines of Pierce + filler for Butler + Bledsoe + filler. Makes even more sense now that Rondo is probably out until November or December and probably won't be 100% back to where he was physically until the 2014-2015 season.

I'd rather look at FA and patch up for the year.
That guy Jeremy Pargo had some very nice showing in Cleveland for a few games when Kyrie was down, he's worth a look.
I'd give Jonny Flynn a look, he's an NBA level PG.
I'd rather save that pick for a much more significant deal that could help us for the next years FINAL (as my brother says) run.

I really doubt that Jeremy Pargo or Jonny Flynn would be any better than the Bradley / Lee / Terry / Barbosa committee we've got going. The truth is, that 4-guard rotation we have won't blow you away with explosive offense, or amazing iso plays, but we'd need to get a legit, above average starting point guard to do better. Anybody who is a free agent right now (i.e. not good enough to be a solid backup for somebody) isn't going to be an upgrade.

I would hate to see Captain leave, but that's the best we could get in return, and giving him a solid chance at another title.

Oh I agree. Completely. I'm just saying, if we are indeed looking for another PG, i'd rather go FA than trade our 1st rounder for one.

Well there we can be in complete agreement. I am completely opposed to trading any pick for anything but a potentially valuable future asset at this point. I don't care how weak this draft supposedly is.

But more important now is to get a Big center rather than PG

Our deepest position is guard. Would be a waste to grab a "true" pg.
Im sure our guards are better over all players than most PG's we could get. Id rather just have better overall talent on the floor which is what we need most.
