The Cavs and Heat have "emerged" as the favorites to sign Greg Oden, sources told CBS Sports.
The Heat are believed to be offering a minimum salary, while the Cavs could offer up to $4 million, which seems like an excessive amount. The Celtics are another team that has "expressed interest," but Oden is not believed to be interested in going to Boston.

Makes sense.  On the Cavs he gets to play with Kyrie Irving.  Compared to where the Celtics are right now, the Cavs probably seem like a team on the up and up.

The Heat are obviously more of a "immediate win" scenario for him where he wouldn't have nearly as much pressure to put up numbers.

He would be Crazy to turn down a 4 mil offer from the Cavs.

a) most money
b) behind Varejo they have no center and he would get good bench minutes

He's toast anyway. Doesn't really bother me.

“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

Tyler Zeller sucks, but yeah.  Though I think Varejao gets traded as soon as he comes back from his injury and shows that he's reasonably healthy.

No big free agent ever goes to Boston,  or for that matter, small time one's like Oden is right now.

Boston still a "possibility"

Quote
Oden’s agent, Mike Conley, said in a phone interview Wednesday with FOX Sports Florida that Oden could visit Miami as soon as next week.

“We haven’t set it up yet but we want to go down there and meet with (the Heat) and get to know them and vice-versa,’’ Conley said.

Although Conley had talked to FOX Sports Florida last year about Oden’s interest in the Heat, he had said on Jan. 10 he hadn’t heard anything yet from the team about his client. However, he said he talked to Miami president Pat Riley shortly thereafter.

“We’ve been talking on and off for the last two or three weeks,’’ Conley said of Riley. “They’re interested.’’

Conley said there’s a “very good chance’’ Oden, 25, will sign with an NBA team before the end of the season for rehab purposes and to get to know the organization. However, he said Oden, who has had five knee surgeries and last played in an NBA game on Dec. 5, 2009, definitely would not play again until next season.

Conley confirmed another team on Oden’s list is Cleveland. He said Boston also could be a possibility although there haven’t been conversations yet with the Celtics.

1) He may think the team is a bit cursed in dealing with injuries.

2) He ought to be concerned that he won't be handed automatic minutes but might actually have to earn them if he has to play for Doc.

There's not much to remember when Tyler Zeller is in the conversation.
