Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft

Right now the Celtics look to be in trouble. Pierce and Garnett look old and worn out. As a fan you want this team to make a trade so that they are at least going in the right direction. However, not making a move might be the best course of action for their future.

If KG and Pierce suffer through a season that looks like the first half of the year I would expect them to retire following the 12/13 campaign. I believe them both retiring would put us at around $20 mm  under the cap next year. (please check my math because I'm not positive)

So I ask you, is it better to trade them now for what could be decent assets or take the cap space and put it toward rebuilding next year?

I have maintained that is is time for the celtics to suck it up and rebuild not through trades but through the draft and free agency.

TP to you.

At this point, considering the low return value either KG or Pierce will likely net us, yes, just letting them retire at the end of the season would be best.

The only problem is, I'm not 100% certain KG's deal would come off the books.

Unless Danny can somehow get a Top 5 pick this year, then he should pass on this draft and shoot for the 2014 one instead.  There are only about four or five difference-makers this year, and they are Muhammmed, Mclemore, Noel, Zeller, and Anthony Bennett and who knows if all of them even declare.

makes sense
building blocks for the future are all ready in place
all star point guard rondo
all nba defender bradley
young quality sf green
quality bench guy signed reasonably lee
young stud or worst case scenario quality bench pf in sully
project in melo
lots of money to nab a free agent, more than a few who have stated they want to play with rondo who makes it a point to distribute
