Despite being the 14th leading scorer in the NBA, Pierce was passed over for the All-Star game.  In the end, I guess the powers that be decided that a below-.500 team didn't deserve three all-stars.

Piece is in the same class as George and Deng this year; the stats are all pretty close.

It's all on him... had he not played like a D-League player for the last 2 weeks, he would probably be in instead of Deng! There were also other players who got snubbed more than PP imo...

Good for him though, let him rest... and maybe some self-critisism about his recent performance might also be helpful!

And he did finish...

I have no qualms with Pierce getting the rest, to be quite honest.

He's made plenty of these games in the past.

This could actually be a blessing in disguise.

I'd say this is the reason.  Coaches like to preach that individual accolades (like All-Star appearances) come from team performance to encourage team play.  Not that shocking that a sub .500 team in the 8 spot in the conference doesn't have 25% of the East's All-Stars.

Plus the NBA really dont like the Celtics

I'd say this isn't the reason.  Paul (and other Celtics) have made the All-Star game many times before.

This could actually be a blessing in disguise.

It certainly can't hurt.  Maybe a snub is extra motivation.  Maybe a little extra rest helps.  There really is now downside to this from a team standpoint.

Deng deserves it over Pierce. I am happy Deng got the nod.

Eh, Pierce might still get in as an injury replacement (Deng).

Is it just me, or did they announce the reserves really early this year?

Last year the reserves were announced on 2/9 (but lockout, so whatever).

But in 2011 the reserves were announced on 2/3 I think, with the starters announced on 1/28.

2010 it was something like 1/28 for reserves and 1/22 for starters.

There's still 3 1/2 weeks till the All-Star game, and most teams have like 10+ games during that stretch.

Just seems so early.

Why is it so early this year?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class
