Quote
REPORTER: "Why were you so motivated at the start of the game?" RONDO: "Because you told me my assists were down, and I just want to go out there and prove it to you that I could step my game up when need be." REPORTER: "So I get credit for that?" RONDO: "No, you get no credit for that."

REPORTER: "Seriously, what was it about tonight that you did seem extra motivated?" RONDO: "Was it Greg [Dickerson] that was asking me about Kemba Walker? I'm getting a little bit older, so the young guys are coming in, and I may have a mark on my back, being an older guy. I made a couple [NBA] All-Star [Games], but I'm a target every night, so I just want to go out there and defend. What I do best is run the show. I made a lot of lucky shots tonight." REPORTER: "Who are your targets?" RONDO: "Myself. Press conference over."

And the source

Now before anyone says anything, I actually watched the video and the quoted portion misses Rondo's context.  Some of that was clearly said in jest, but not all.

who cares, we need him at his top level for the playoffs , not January games.

He will be much more energized now that Bradley is back to cover opposing Pg's

We need him to play to the best of his ability every night. We actually *Somehow* have a shot at the #1 seed if we can continue to be consistent for the remainder of the season.

His interviews are great, wish he and mchale played at the same time, exact opposites in interviews.  I wouldn't put too much into anything he says during an interview however watch them as his eyes rolling or zipping reporters on stupid questions , love his deadpan

He was kidding about the 'assists are down thing', but I think there is a difference between 'not getting up for' and consciously not trying. Larry Bird would have to insert mini-games of sorts on top of regular season games to keep his interest engaged. Kevin Garnett has to develop elaborate 'Taken-esque' revenge fantasies about guys like Biyombo or Ty Thomas to keep his famously high motor up.

Rajon admitting that the season (and his effort) lags a bit wouldn't really be what I'd call a revelation.
