I like the players fit.

I don't like the 12 million price tag.  Not enough of an impact and hampers the Celtics ability to add a talented big man (instead of the trash heap big man FA)

Yeah, I wouldn't want Gordon for that much $$.

I just refute the notion that Terry is a better player.  Given age and their play this season, I don't think it makes sense to reach that conclusion.

I like Gordon, and see him generally on Terry's level.  To date this year, I'd put him above Terry by a decent margin.

He's scoring at an excellent clip (21.9 points per 36 minutes), and he's doing it very efficiently (45% FG% / 40% 3PT% / .524 eFG% / .556 TS%).  If people don't think a guy like that could help us, they haven't been paying attention.

All that said, I think his salary makes it impossible to get here at a fair price.

Ben Gordon isn't getting 18 shot attempts per 36 with the C's though.

Terry is scoring at roughly the same efficiency overall at .546 TS%, but he's only getting 11 shots per 36.

I do think Gordon would fit into what Doc tried to use Terry for better though, shots coming off screens and pin downs.

With only one year left, I don't see his deal as a negative.

I have doubts about the Cs ability to acquire a difference maker at the 4 or 5 with either Bass or Terry. I'd use the bi-annual on a buyout, do a smaller trade for back-up at the 4, or use Green to acquire a legit player if possible.

Don't trash Gordon too much, this did happen after all. Guy is a dynamite scorer.

Thing is he's a shell of his former self

Gordon: 14 Points in 22 minutes on 46 % shooting this season, 41 % from 3.  Still 29 years old.

Terry: 10 Points in  29. 6 minutes on 41 % shooting this season, 36 % from 3. Still 35 years old.

Sorry, but just because Ben Gordon has played for Detroit and Charlotte since 10' doesn't mean he is the shell of his former self, just means you haven't seen him play.

I agree I wouldn't trade Terry for Gordon though, Celtics don't need an upgrade in bench scoring. You only make a move if it's for a 5 man that is more of a factor than Jason Collins.
have seen him play don't need stats to tell me he's not the player he once was

The big problem with Ben Gordon is that he turns the ball over way too much. He is not a very good ball handler/passer.

What god-awful thing did we do to Ben Gordon to make him play so well against us.  I mean, Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte: it doesn't matter.  He relishes playing against us.

offensively he's a lights out shooter
do you think he'd mesh with the celtics difficult defensive rotations, can't say i've seen him put in much effort in most phases of the game except shooting

I'd say Gordon and Terry are on about the same level defensively.  And yes, that's a pretty poor level.

:)
i know terry is bad but he appears to really hustle out there, of course terry's lackluster defense might be why barbosa got the late nod last game

This. Terry was brought in to be a 'microwave'. Gordon is a much better / younger one.

One very good specialist who fits a clear need is better than two mediocre players who really don't fill much of anything, other than minutes and shots. Just look at how Bradley has changed the Cs fortunes.

Specialists over baggage, please. Only chance for a banner.

I don't like Gordon at all.  Poor defender, not quite big enough to be a SG, only cares about shooting. Never won anything. Loser.

Guy's postseason stats are exceptional, including an unbelievable series against the Cs in 2009, and leading UConn in scoring to a National Title in 2004.
