The team just ran out of steam. You could see it in the fourth quarter. Even if Ray did marginally better we win that game and series.

Upon looking back at the game we would have won with Perk, here a few things that stand out to me.
- The Lakers got 56 minutes out of their bench, the Celtics just 30 minutes
- Tony Allen was -9 in just five minutes
- Out-rebounded 53 to 40
- 25 Celtics fouls to 19 Lakers fouls
- Rasheed played over 35 minutes, before fouling out
- Rondo just two rebounds short of a triple-double
- Kobe Bryant had 15 rebounds and Gasol had 18
- Derek Fisher made both of his 3's
- Artest had five steals, three fouls
13 point lead blown. i am sick all over again. that shoulda been KG's second title.

This game is one of the biggest reasons why I question Doc's ability to coach
Was Doc the one calling fouls in the 4th that were not called in the first three quarters? That game was given to LA because we were not allowed to so much as breath on a laker without them getting to the line.

How can anyone over look that Doc didn't play Tony Allen, Big Baby, or Nate Robinson at all for the 2nd half? Which tired the Celtics starting 5, while the Laker bench were playing alot of minutes to conserve the starter's minutes You're right, refs were a big obstacle, which was obvious from game 1 of the series. But that coaching error was the main reason

The thing that doesn't show in the box score is that the refs allowed physical contact for three quarters, and then started calling touch fouls in the fourth (to the Lakers advantage). This is what you remember if you're a C's fan. Gasol at the FT line for most of the 4th quarter. We were up 3-2 in that series and on a serious roll. That should have been banner 18. Literally still stay up at night thinking about that one. Ugh.

I have never watched that game again, nor did I read up on it afterwards, I was absolutely gutted. That still stings more than anything I can remember sports related... (Started following NBA/Boston in 92)...

Seriously why even bring this up and ruin the mood around here? We're on a five game win streak and playing our best ball of the yr.
Boston got robbed of a title. Plain and simple.

I remember Sheed battling like a gladiator, he left it all on the court that night.
Unfortunately he left it all on the court by the 3rd quarter. He had nothing left in the 4th. His back was done.

GrandTheftRondo I honestly don't know if I'll ever get over this one. Well, if that's your biggest problem in life, I'd say you're doing A-okay As long as we're always one Larry O'Brien ahead of LA, we have to be happy, IMHO.

One play epitomizes this game, and I'm sure everyone here remembers it.
The Lakers were up by 4 with maybe a minute and change to go, and as the shot clock was winding down, Gasol got the ball in the low post.
He proceeded to attempt a fadeaway, but KG (I think) defended it well and Gasol was forced to double-clutch. He TRAVELS in front of a ref and gets the shot to go. Lakers up 6.
At that point, I kind of knew it was over. Credit to Ray, Sheed, and Rondo for hitting those threes, but it was too little too late.
