Was unable to catch this one and unfortunately this is one that's not working on youtube. In the midst of the Celtic winning streak, our D-League assignee made his first return fresh off a concussion. They did not seem to run the offense through him as he finished 2-6. However, in just under 29 minutes he was able to grab 6 boards, 2 blocks and 1 steal. It's not much on paper but keep in mind he was a p--- poor rebounder before and is now putting up around 7, 8 per 36 in the D-League. Just before his concussion, I saw him boxing out and using his body on rebounds which hopefully was the case this game too (seems like it's the case anyway). And, of course, Melo also hit the game winning putback. Very promising stuff. I personally am very impressed with his progression. Here's the link to the highlights. Dull commentary and only one highlight of Melo (the gamewinner). http://www.nba.com/dleague/video/2013/01/11/Highlightsmnespg011113mov-2351953/index.htmlHopefully they fix it tomorrow. Doubtful though.

are we gonna bring him up this year or dump a bunch of money into another center that gets 5 minutes a night?

It seems like the plan with Melo is keep him in the D-league this year and then next year will be his true rookie season. This strategy has worked really well for some other teams, most notably the Rockets, who did this with Marcus Morris and Greg Smith last year, both of whom have been valuable this season.

I like this plan. Even though he is making super progress in the D League I don't think he is gonna be ready for NBA action this year.

What's your point? Harangody is a good rebounder. He was right there with Faried and Dejuan Blair in college. You can't sell him short just cause he's short. He led his class in the bench press and I believe he's top 10 or so for those recorded.

I don't think he is gonna be ready for NBA action this year. He is a project despite all these posts hyping him, no of these feats have prompted Doc to bring him and let him play with the big boys. However, in just under 29 minutes he was able to grab 6 boards, 2 blocks and 1 steal. What hyperbole? This stat line sucks for a legit seven footer no matter how you hype it. I hope he keeps improving we need him but some of these posts make him sound like he is second coming of Moses Malone. He isn't but he does not suck at everything.

I assume Maine runs nothing close to Doc's defensive system?
If not, that will be the true hurdle.

They are supposed to run both Celtics defense and offense to prepare our players. I will guess that they use simpler versions, because of the many changes in rotation a D League team with NBA ready players will experience.

No. I'd say maybe "ultra mega" or "mega hyper" but "ultra mega hyper" is too much.
