I know he says he doesn't want to leave he Suns, but also say it's a business and sounds like he knows a trade for him is likely coming, especially since he turned down the contract extension the Suns offered.

The c's have a 2 year window with PP and KG, Gortat is signed for 2 years at a very reasonable 7 mil.

If you look at the other big men available, there really isn't anyone as good as Gortat who you could get for a reasonable price.

Varejao is injured,Okafor is to much salary to match, no way we are landing cousins without giving up Rondo(no thank you). Don't even get me started on Dalembert ,he can't even get off the bucks bench.

It seems like Gortat is the perfect fit if you can get him from a package of Lee or Bass,Melo and a 1st.

MUCH rather trade Bass than Lee. If we were to acquire Gortat, KG could play some minutes at the 4, so that KG, Gortat, and Sully split up the majority of the bigs minutes with Wilcox taking just a few.

Lee, however, is taking on the backup PG duties quite well for this team; better than Terry in fact. I think he's very important to this team, and I want to keep him around.

I agree being able to keep Lee would be awesome, but would still make the deal if that's what it takes.

A big man rotation of KG,Sully and Gortat would be so good. Great rim protection, great rebounding,toughness and also very solid offense. I am drooling at the thought of it

As others have said, this sounds like a guy saying what he knows he should say, but not denying that the team he's on is going nowhere.

I will disagree with the OP in one respect -- the Celtics could do a lot worse than Sam Dalembert.  Dalembert may be stuck on the Bucks bench, but that's because the Bucks are a young team that's focused on developing players and they have 3 really high quality young defensive big men who all have similar strengths and weaknesses to Dalembert. 

Getting Dalembert (without giving up much) would not be a home run, but it would be a very fine acquisition that would help this team considerably.


Regardless, Gortat would obviously be preferable.

I am a little less enthusiastic about Gortat after seeing him play.  There were more than a couple of cases where he played what I thought was very lazy defense.  His season on-court, off-court stats from 82games are:

Offense: Pts per 100 Poss.  105.2        103.9     +1.3
Defense: Pts per 100 Poss.  109.4        108.9     +0.5

This is a little hard to follow but the bottom line is that the Suns are slightly better defensively when he is OFF the court.  Maybe he would snap out of it if he came to the Cs but I saw a guy who was coasting on defense to avoid fouls and then working hard when there was a positive stat involved.  He would still likely help but this just reduces what I would be willing to give up for him.

Well, he's an expiring contract and he's not playing for the Bucks right now, so I imagine they'd be happy to get pretty much anything of value for him.
