Sort of surprising news out of California: the state is expected to have a surplus.

California had reforms to be made, to be sure, but hats off to the economic recovery, as well.

One thing that constantly gets buried by people who insist upon looking at debt/GDP ratios, is that revenue cratered alongside the spending increases. It should come as no great surprise that when the economy recovers, that tax revenue floods back along with it, especially in a state like CA that depends so much on revenue from things that are tied to income tax, sales tax, etc.
