The world of 3D printing has reached the music business ...

... not impressed with this particular guitarist, but Olaf Diegel is brilliant.

The following Americana model (link) has smaller sculptures of various New York City landmarks inside.

This is amazing technology, as pretty much anything that can be conceptualized on a computer, can be printed, (in plastic, of course), in fully functioning order ... no assembly required.

This really fascinates me no end.

It's basically the replicators from Star Trek coming into reality in front of us.

Of course there are downsides too (they're starting to get good at printing functional guns, for example, and bombs won't be far behind), but it's an incredible and fascinating technology.

Printing guns - not a downside.  They will never ever be able to print bullets or any sort of catalyst for bombs.  Why bring that into this very cool thread with the very cool video?

The idea of a plastic guitar disturbs me. Lol.
But 3D printing is awesome.
