Cavs or Pacers make the most sense for him.

I agree that the Suns should be his preferred destination, they have the greatest history in keeping injury-prone players healthy (G.Hill, Nash, Stat and now JO).
But I don't see how and why would any other team be a better fit for him, at least not from the basketball perspective. Especially those teams dying for some inside presence, because I believe that he should target a defensive specialist, back-up role. Here he could come and if ready provide the C's bench some inside presence, Bill Watlon style! :)

Oh, and I'd give him BAE for two years in a heartbeat, though we probably would have to shed some salary in order to be able to use it. It's a bit more than vet min and after two years we'd have early bird rights, so if he works out well, we'd be able to re-sign him to some reasonable contract. Danny, please, get it done!

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Cavs or Pacers make the most sense for him.

Why the cavs and pacers? Both have guys established at the 5.

Heat, blazers, Mavs make the most sense to me. And blazers are obv out

Cleveland = Ohio State university = where Oden went to college.
Indiana = home state = where Oden grew up

I think Oden should go anywhere that offers him a regular rotation role close to 20 minutes a night. Preferably as a backup rather than a starter.

I wouldn't go to a team like Miami because he might not be able to crack + stay in the rotation. I would avoid most playoff teams. I think Indiana would be tough too with Mahinmi playing well for them.

G.Oden strikes me as the type who regularly makes bad career decisions (putting on all that extra weight before first season, difficulties sticking to his rehab) so I am expecting him to go to Miami and have lots of problems getting on the floor. Similar to what happened with Dampier when the lack of quickness and offensive talent wrecked havoc with Miami's lineups.

Cleveland looks a very good option to me. That is where I would like to see Oden go.

Boston is probably not a good place for Oden to go (if Oden makes his decision out of self-interest) because Doc will probably make him earn a role in the rotation instead of automatically handing him a 15-20 mpg role off the bench.

If Oden goes to a team that has 20minutes a night open for him, that team will probably end up one big man short after Oden gets hurt.

If I were Oden I would go somewhere with no expectations.  If he can stay healthy, of course minutes will open up.  If he can't stay healthy, it won't be noticed so much.  I think the last thing Oden wants is to have a team count on him again and then let them down.

As long as we can amnesty him when the injury happens I think it is worth giving him a vet minimum.

I think Boston would be a great spot for him.  He'd have an opportunity to earn minutes and to learn from some great veteran pros under a great coach while competing for something as a team.  Plus, he's used to living in a place with crappy weather.

I don't necessarily think these developmental teams that are simply about giving big minutes to potential stars while competing for lottery balls are all that great for player development.  Young players have to learn to play on an NBA level, but it's also helpful when they are learning to play to actually win games.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Go to the Kings. Get some good minutes and makes Cousins expendable for us to reep the benefits.

I still think the Grizzlies make the most sense for him. (If he's healthy). They need a back up big man for their rotation because they are thin up front. He could also get more comfortable being alongside Conley.

He's the most injured and fragile player in league history, but I never thought Grant Hill would play either. Definitely try to get him. I can't deal with the idea of him doing well for the Lakers or Heat
