Did cleveland really need help tanking? Seems like they were doing a fine job with Varejao doing that.
Also I don't think Varejao has ever really been healthy. Just look at the numbers. Especially given the low amount of.minutes he has played.

His value will never be what it was this past season. Blown opportunity for Cleveland.

It really is shocking that team with Kyrie + Varejao isn't winning more games. Their supporting cast is absolutely atrocious but you'd still think a team with those two should get the team more wins than they have been able to get. Underperforming.

Me too. Although as we have seen with the C's, talent isn't everything. There needs to be chemistry and something to pull the team together. Even with the talent Cleveland has, they have looked like a bunch of guys playing in a pickup game or something.

reduces Sideshow Bob's trade value but probably drives up Gortat's value as the other primary center supposedly on the market

I read a breakdown on Fear the Sword about how they are truly awful at transition defense, even when they have players in position. I wonder if overall coaching and details like that are unravelling them.

Probably. Not sure why he would fake surgery. It really hurts the team, because they lose their key trade asset and their second best player, and doesn't help him much either, but solidifying his reputation as an injury prone player.

I get this.... but why to play? they are not winning with or without him hes probably resting an old injury only I could not blame him for that see Pierce/elbow then come back to be in a championship contender next year. I mean why not he always deliver BIG in international competitions too during summer. He will find his value on the open market.

Well, he isn't a free agent. He is locked up for a couple years in Cleveland. So, if he wants to go to a contender, continuing to perform leading up to the trade deadline, so a contender would pay up for him, was his best chance.
