Wow has anyone else seen the recent pic of John Wall w/o a shirt on?? Guy looks like he hasnt work out in a year!! No wonder he isnt playing b/c he is out of shape!

Looks like a pretty blurry photo.  A lot of players don't look like they have a super impressive physique and then you see pictures of them when they are in action and their muscles are actually working and they appear ripped.

Anyway, what matters with Wall is not whether he is totally ripped, but whether he is healthy and has improved his jumpshot.  He can spare some quickness and athleticism if he can just develop some skill.

Yeah, ripped is not the same as in shape.

Honestly, being ripped is often not a sign of being in great shape. People who are ripped are usually working out glamor muscles as opposed to anything strictly functional. There is a reason so few professional athletes have six-packs or anything.

Even having fat isn't a sign that you aren't in shape. In fact, having a little bit of extra fat on you is actually good, because it gives you energy reserves. It lets you last longer/more stamina, at the slight expense of speed/explosiveness.

We aren't talking about a post up player or forward here.  He's a guard relying almost purely on athleticism.  His body should not look like that.

We aren't talking about a post up player or forward here.  He's a guard relying almost purely on athleticism.  His body should not look like that.

But what if he's still the explosive, athletic John Wall even with the "baby fats"? I dont know to be quite honest. But I've seen some guys who are not in the "athletic" shape  in the gym that can still explode and jump up there.
